Breh, this should be common sense. A college receiver should know that the clock doesn't stop when you don't have a timeout and don't have a first down. How else would the clock stop?
of course that's a known fact, but lets not act like we've never seen a player in any sport make a bonehead play because his coach didn't reitterate game situations, the kind of stuff you can talk about during a timeout or after spiking the ball. i can't blame a player for decisions made in the moment, especially when the antithesis of that decision isn't properly discussed by the people tasked with seeing all possible outcomes.
