I see what you’re saying but not once did a slave over here go “man fukk these white motherfukkers I’m finna summon so and so to kill these crackers” or even when European had conquered Africa and was draining it of its resources and committing genocides in the early 20th century no one ever decided to conjure up a spirit to get them out the paint and let the murder game down on the Europeans? I just don’t buy this boogeyman spirit floating in the air asking me to make a wish type shyt. It’s bullshyt

I believe there’s more to this world than the surface but that shyt don’t fly
It is a lot more complicated. Weapons/tools by themselves won't guarantee you victory.
Bro they did, you gotta read history. All of these events are searchable. I just don't feel like doing it tonight..
These dudes view it like its some fairy odd parents shyt.

"I wish for a billion dollas" :mjlol:

I think greed was Africa's downfall. The main problem behind the fall of every civilization starts from the inside.

Yes to the bolded. Exactly that, both. Something that can explain why they're all similar but different is the understanding of pre-colonial history in west Africa. For instance if I'm not mistaken before Dahomey Kingdom was a contender with it's neighbors it was a tribute state of the Oyo empire. Dahomey is associated with Vodou, Oyo with Ifa. Both venerate Legba but for 2 different practices. Same applies to Ogun with the both. This ties into their history with each other. Now slaves from both reach Cuba, Haiti and Brazil and it becomes Papa Legba, Elegua and Exu in Haitian Vodou, Lucumi and Candomble.

So basically this energy was the same but different on the continent before slavery and off the continent after slavery, weaving in and out of people's practices and interpretations.

Thx for explaining.:salute:

Can you explain the different sides of the same prism re: Eleggua?

Are these different manifestations of Eleggua presented to different diasporic cultures?

Or a fractured lens of Eleggua due to loss of land, language, separation from the continent due to slavery.

I certainly find it interesting that Papa Legba got syncretized with the devil which would explain the crossroad story and the meeting with the devil in some accounts and Legba in others.
That was Met Kafou.

This man the Founder of the Church Of God In Christ - Baptist. Pastor C. H Mason

That church was a front. He was a Hoodoo healer. One of the BEST in his time. The knowledge of his Ancestral practices helped healed MANY in our communities who were denied hospital care and medicine by white racist.

This is interesting because I've always felt that, just as Christianity was syncretized with Roman religious practices, and how Christianity was syncretized with indigenous meso-american religious practices, I've always felt that the black american church syncretized Christianity to vodou practices that were passed down from our slave ancestors just like the Haitians, Cubans, and Brazilians did.

The Black American Church overemphasizes, more than any other american church, the phenomenon of using music to attract or "ushering in" and then "catching" the Spirit. And then the resulting effects, unintelligible chanting, forceful dancing, trancelike behavior, and then "revelation".

This is all so very fascinating.

EXACTLY. Which is why I'm not bothering replying to their nonsense. The fact they call it "witchcraft" or "magic" shows that they don't warrant any serious replies. lol.
