quick question, I plan on moving to out west soon. Is it less racist out there and more closeted? I'm really sick of this shyt down here...it's subtle but it's noticeable. I hate it. Better question would be, are people in blue states more open-minded (in your opinion) than those in red states?!?!

It's no utopia out here, but there are some "liberal" areas where the racism is rather minimal. Most of the racism is subtle, but it usually stems from the under educated portion of the population. As far as being open-minded, it's really what you make of it. From my point of view, there's a lot of pretentious and superficial individuals.

With that said, I have friend from numerous background whom, get along just fine.

Sacramento is just a hick town. But California, has a huge population, so I can't really make any claims that won't come off as generalizations. There's no shortage of stupid people either.

Yeah I was having a conversation today with one of my white co-workers and he too has had enough of the south. For me personally, I just want to get away from the south but not relocate to an area where there is a constant battle (between local media bias, bleak jobs for blacks, bus full of blacks , people "expecting" me to act black, etc, I feel it's conditioning me for a lifestyle that I do not want to be conditioned for if you follow. I'm not going out there expecting miracles or anything like that but I just want to gather different perspectives of peoples lives elsewhere to see how it is and grow within a group of more diverse folks. I know there is racist in every corner of america so I'm definitely not naive in that aspect of it all. But I just NEED to see a new area. I've only lived in 2 states...alabama, georgia. I HAVE to see and do more in life.

>> Refer to the President as "the ******"
>> Not racist.

:beli:

And wanting him dead.

If this isn't racist...what do white people actually call & think is racist now?

the very act of lynching or something. :wow:

White folks need help but this is what happens when the real history of America isn't taught. You are doom to repeat it. :snoop:

The north east has treated me well. I have no real interest living anywhere else in this country. The only place I see myself is in NYC. Although I do want to check out Seattle and Chicago. I almost moved to Portland a couple years ago but it was too laid back. I need to be challenged and push myself. NYS has it's challenges, especially economic. Everything else is straight, diversity, woman, food, opportunity...

Look into some blue states do some reading. Look for jobs and apartments where you're considering.
Start putting money aside and send out resumes.
Just saw you listed San Diego. I'd love to live in San Diego, if I were going to blow that kind of money I might as well call America quits.

How's your education?

Unless you're highly gifted in sales, or naturally charismatic, you more than likely won't be able to come up on any jobs unless they pertain to minimum wage labor. It's really infallible to try and live off anything remotely close to minimum wage(8.10). The cost of living is ridiculously high and having a car is mandatory, at least in LA, frisco has better public transportation system.

With that said, there some what of a bad stigma associated with black people in general, unless you come off as the clean cut professional type cat.....
