Honesty thats the decision making that's fukked them in the long term. I know not having the rights is the reason, but marvel diversified beyond the X-Men and made the avengers a hit. Batman meanwhile is their golden goose and Gets used everywhere (although lacking cameos in the various tv shows over the years) to the point that it might as well be the batman family and the DC universe.

And yea, Fox/Sony having the movie rights to X-Men/F4/Spidey was the best thing to happen to Black Panther, GotG, and the MCU in general.

Whereas DC was never forced to learn. Even with Dwayne Mcduffie and Bruce Timm being the Feige before Feige with the JL/JLU shows, DC still didn't take the hint and all that momentum eventually died off
