That's the kind of thing that you are supposed to call someone, who tells someone who tells someone else who tells you in person. or just nods at you lol Was Jook a drug a addict or an alchoholic, to be slipping that bad, or just drunk on power?

Breh you are knowledgeable on this stuff. They are saying Marquette Govan is still a defendant in this case but he signed a proffer like keefe d? I’m confused on if he’s going to trial or not. There’s an article from a few months ago saying his trial was supposed to start this week but there hasn’t been a peep.

In the defense closing arguments they tried to say the state didn’t bring him as a witness because he was going to tell the truth - which was different than what Cornelius said. The state said he is a defendant so he could not be forced to testify.

Who is saying he is still a defendant? Is it Govan that is accused of being middle man in the murder plot?

It's possible the state didn't need him, they had enough. They didn't want to risk him getting cross examined because he's a bad witness. Criminal. Liar. Maybe had addiction issues. Who knows? Maybe lied in his accounts of what happened and they don't have confidence in him

It's also possible, he's technically still awaiting trial, and it's also possible that they wanted Govan to testify against Jook, but with him being dead, he's useless, and they will try him or offer him a 30 year deal or something for his previous cooperation.

The district attorney said it today in response to the defense attorney during closing statements.

So with the proffer that means anything he told
Them (which is everything according to Cornelius) can’t be used against him in trial. But they can still use other evidence like what Cornelius told them (about him being the middle man)?

This is from two months ago. It went from this to just straight drop on trial by himself.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Almost three years after Memphis rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed, those charged in connection to the deadly attack are set to finally go to trial.
On Monday, the man accused of orchestrating the attack, along with the man who already pled guilty to helping after the shooting, learned when they, along with two other defendants, will have the case heard before a judge and jury.
Judge Jennifer Mitchell set the trial date for September 23 of this year.

Hernandez Govan, the man accused of arranging the murder of rapper Young Dolph in 2021, stood before the judge on Monday.
Govan’s counsel Handel Durham Jr. told us that when the trial gets underway, his client will not face the judge alone.

“The judge wants to keep a pretty tight rein on everything, especially Mr. Govan and all the defendants that are involved,” said Durham Jr. “We are compliant with doing what she tells us to do, and looking forward to the trial date.”
Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith, the accused triggermen, along with Jermarcus Johnson, will be in court also.
Jermarcus Johnson was there Monday, alongside Govan.
Johnson already pled guilty last year to three counts of being an accessory after the fact. He will still return for trial in just under two months.
Judge Mitchell reminded both defense attorneys that September 23 is the date the case is set to go to trial. Defense attorney Durham said it’s at that moment when evidence many are unaware of will finally be revealed.

“We are looking forward to bringing this to an end because I think the public needs to really know what happened,” said Durham Jr.
Durham says the details will clear his client’s name.
“I am just confident,” he said.
Before Hernandez Govan goes to trial, he is set to return to court on Sept. 9 for a pre-trial conference.

Skimmed a few articles, he's a bad witness. And they didn't need him. Got arrested for stalking and some other shyt while on bond LOL

They maybe revoked his cooperation agreement. They will either offer a serious plea, or take him to trial. He was probably going to be useful against Jook.

They don't neeed to use his testimony, because they already had enough to charge him with the killing. He overplayed his hand and will probably get maxed out if there's no further motion on any CMG RICO. Like if the feds want him as a witness.

Yep, he's 26 now and if they gave him 25-30 he could get out when he could still at least TRY to make something of his worthless life.
I was just coming in here to ask what plea was offered...

#1 rule is you don't go to trial if they got heavyweight evidence on you. They got this nikka doing the shooting, got him with the car after the fact, got his co-d telling, plus whatever else. This dude gotta have rocks for brains to see this to trial, although, to alot if guys offering me 40 years is basically a Life sentence anyway, so may as well go to trial...

I'd love to know what plea he was offered...

Doubt they offered a plea. The trial was 3 days. The DA's office wasted no time and no effort. They had an eyewtiness and co conspirator. They had video. They had phone records. Data analysis. Jury took 2 hours.

It's a high profile killing, maybe the most high profile in Memphis history, you can't plea that out. Sends the wrong message.

I think the case is too high profile for a plea deal, people would of been pissed
