Whatever you wanna call it, #ADOS wants nothing to do with it and rebukes any association or connection to it when it's our ancestral home. The 'soul' we have that separates us from whites or hispanics or anybody else here are remnants from there that continue that fiercely embody us.

Some of y'all have a lot of false ideas when it comes to ADOS.

At the end of the day, all ADOS is really about is us identifying ourselves as a unique group, with a shared history and culture, fighting for our specific justice claims in this country.

It started as a group of "black" folks, that can trace their lineage back to slavery, pushing data on the wealth gap in this country, caused by hundreds of years of racist social and economic policies specifically targeting descendants of slaves, and fighting for reparations to correct this gap before the average wealth of an ADOS family drops to zero, like some economists have predicted will happen by 2050.

Period.

Outside of that, you have some ADOS folks that recognize "Africa" as our ancestral home, some that don't.

You have some that don't like "black" immigrants, and some that want "black" immigrants as allies in our fight, while also willing to support them in their justice claims in their native lands.

Whenever you have a large group of people coming together for a specific cause, they aren't going to agree on everything, but this notion that ADOS is about us feeling superior to "Africans" and our Caribbean folks or being some sort of right wing group are all completely false.

I hear you but pushing the data is what's ultimately going to get us what we're fighting for because it can't be disputed.

A lot of people don't know just how fukked the racial wealth gap in this country really is, what caused it, and what it's forecasted to be in the very near future.

They think the ADOS movement is just a couple nikkas that hate other "black" groups, are just complaining, and asking for a handout.

If we focus on educating folks on what's really going on and also focus on building bridges with potential allies then we might get what we're asking for.

But the powers that be, that created this system in the 1st place, and want to see ADOS wealth hit zero, will continue to do whatever they can to recruit naysayers to fight against us.

We're fanning the flames by engaging with the negativity, and allowing it to get us off point, instead of staying focused on educating and building.

First of all, I'm not a STEM major. I'm interested in it and tryna break in the field. Second of all, you exactly providing a counter yourself. Just ad hominems.

Gotta disagree with the bolded For one, data can be manipulated. Two, other data can be used to silence your point-- we've seen that for a looooong time with black on black crime and they just as quickly assert that it can't be disputed. Three, white people BEEN known the data. It helped immensely with redlining communities and gentrification, prisons being built on third graders academic status, etc. Finally, just cuz you have the data doesn't mean whites will care... for all the afformentioned reasons.


I'm not saying data is useless and shouldn't be utilized, I'm just saying you can't rely on it to be the decisive blow. It's a tool to inform strategy. The bigger issue here is pointless diaspora wars and gossip though.
