Lol actually I personally only call myself a Black American but everyone on this site says AA Dos to make it clear we are descendants of the slaves on this continent
So its okay for us black americans to call ourselves African American,AA DOs,under the assumption that our ancestors came from africa by way of slave trade. When in fact, some black natives of the Americas were sent back to Spain as slaves by Columbus, and probably came back grouped as the same thing during the slave trade. Not to mention black natives who were already here in the Americas and taken as slaves.
AA's can make that assumption, but a person with a African,Hatian or Jamaican parent who grew up in America, with AA's,talks like a AA,identifies as AA,is seen as AA can't claim AA?but yall can claim Africa under an assumption
? Not that I ever see this happening anyway,I'm sorry I just don't see foreign black people clamoring to claim AA. Claiming black is a different story, but sorry black is the color we are described as,even though "black" is often used to refer to AA's because we are the leaders of the black free world imo. Along with the fact we are the only blacks who don't identify by a tribe and are refered to as "black".
Some people got hostile because I said I don't see foreign black people who know where they came from clamoring to claim AA. Not sure whats insulting about that, people who know where they came from are proud to claim what they are and what they identify as,at least from my experience. I'm seeing some bitterness about that fact, maybe some insecurity. None of these other foreign clowns speaking bullshyt could make me feel insecure,I'm AA
