Nah sis, it’s about ya roots. If they roots is AA, from the south, with family who were there during Reconstruction and Jim Crow then they are AA.
People with firmly drawn ethnic lines, if they accept them at all, accept halfsies with an asterisk. You can be down culturally and shyt, but you still technically have a parent of another ethnicity. It's not fair to erase that parent. Be strong in your halfrican-ness or w/e. (not YOU personally, idk you like that)

Coulda swore Jadakiss was Nigerian :lupe:

Either way, what do you consider Africans living in America? Or breh with African parents.

I thought Barack was the first African American president, have we all been bamboozled
Lmaooo @ thinking Jada is Nigerian. Wtf would ever make u think that hahaha

And us AA Dos are our own ethnicity. If Africans that just happen to live in America are not one of us. They need to put they're country of descent before American

Stop trying to hijack our identity

No. She's cap Verdean American.

Do you think Elon Musk or Charlize Theron are African Americans?

Anyway, AA describes a precise reality: it's for the descendants of slaves in the US.

So where do non-descendants of slaves go under of terms of definitions.

How does a 1st generation West African describe themselves, are they not AFRICAN American? :patrice:

WI's are, in fact, descendants of slaves. Let's not erase that either. :usure: Just not of the American variety.

They came from a specific country; so to avoid confusion, they should refer to that country name + american.

Or they can call themselves American Africans.

African american is already taken :yeshrug:
