i think the whole "my brother died in the ring because of a stunt you guys planned" thing still kind of bothered him...:ld:

Not to mention that he had suffered from several concussions and would probably be a vegetable now if he wrestled. No doubt he would have had that stroke the minute he got powerbombed

Vince should've just payed off Hogan, Nash, Hall, Flair, Goldberg, Rey Jr, etc Time Warner contracts. I think he just being cheap there. If not that, wait until their contracts were up before starting the invasion angle. I actually think HHH tearing his quad might've pushed Vince to for go the Invasion angle early.
Invasion should have never happened. You can't have Kanyon, Buff Bagwell and Raven invading. No offense I love WCW but they weren't even mid tier at that point in WCW. Booker was the only legit mid/top tier that came over with the reboot.

If Vince only had waited the year out and promo'd the return of WCW the whole year it would have worked when the Outsiders Hogan and Flair showed up.

But of course he was never serious. He just wanted to say HE pulled that plug because he's a shrewd businessman.

Again, yall got bad memories. DDP came over during that time too.

Raven is another guy that was a bigger star than you guys are giving him credit for being.

The Invasion angle could have worked if WWE had simply not jobbed out the entire WCW/ECW roster.

Booker T
DDP
Raven
Rob Van Dam
Rhyno

At the time they should have been more than enough to have a solid feud, but like I said Vince was preoccupied with jobbing all of them out (The exception being RVD).

nobody wants to see the B team like that....for one Raven doesnt even fit in that group...he only works by himself (or in the scheme of the Flock)..

Rhyno :camby:

DDP was on the decline...Bookah is that dude but we gotta realize he's a 2nd tier guy...same with RVD..

You playing the hindsight game.

Nobody knew that DDP was in decline at the time, that's why his debut was such a big fukking deal and why people were upset about him being jobbed out to the Undertaker. saying RVD is second tier is straight up bullshyt, that guy was one of the most popular stars during the era.

true i admit that i didnt watch that era when it happened. its all new to me still. i watched that Invasion PPV and it was just obvious to me. he didnt look like he had much left. looked kinda :flabbynsick: but DDP always had that look. he always had that charisma tho.

i still consider RVD second tier because he just doesnt come off like a top guy to me. tremendous talent, but i would never put the ball in his hands and trust him with it. seems like more of an issue in the long run with him. im not mad if he's considered top tier tho because im an RVD fan myself.

Most of the guys I mentioned were big names at the time.

DDP was the biggest name they acquired. Physically he looked about as good as he always did, but like I said WWE jobbed him out as soon as he got to the company and he never recovered.

Booker had just become a bigger star that fans respect but they had Stone Cold and Rock whipping his ass constantly.

Like I said RVD was a big deal, he was probably the most over guy in the Invasion. Like I said during that era RVD was one of the most popular stars easily.

Rhyno was seen as an up and coming talent (as evidenced by how they pushed him initially).

Lance Storm was another guy they could have used better, just set him up with manager and send him out there to have dope matches in the mid card.

The problem wasn't with the guys they had it was with how they used them. Some of the guys they acquired were straight bums but not the guys I mentioned.

To be fair, Rock did that with everybody at that time, but typically he'd have a good back and forth match with the guy he did it to or he'd outright put the guy over in the match, that didn't happen with Booker though. It's actually kind of amazing that Booker came back from most of that shyt and became as popular as he did.

I've always sorta looked at DDP as kinda the "heart" of the WCW...at least from that era when I watched it.

I had already switched sides well before the invasion angle started but I actually stopped watching shortly after. If they had done it right...I may have remained a hardcore fan for some time.

Lance storm and just about everybody else said buff was an idiot and wore that tophat on his 1st night there when pat patterson specifically told him not to, apparently buff said something retarded like "oh pat i'm a star, people will cheer me"

Not to mention his momma is his goddamn agent, which is just..........

What's the deal with the tophat though? Is it that big an issue. I understand not following an order is disrespect regardless but that still seems like some petty ass shyt.
