Say somebody gives you $300 and you have 100k of your own money. You wouldn't have 100,300. The $300 will will be deducted out of your lump sum and you will stay at 100k. If you spend $300, you have 99,700 left. It doesn't carry over to the next lump sum either. So no point in saving

I will take the credit score. I'm not trying to look over my shoulder everyday for the rest of my life. The 200k sounds nice but what if something happens? Not really trying to budget for 4 years. Having the 850 credit score and not having anything in my account wouldn't be too terrible since I am working. I can always start saving again.
