first and foremost- much props to spence. i didn't think he could do it cause he doesn't move his head a lot, but that was a excellent victory for him.
i feel bad for kell- cause you could see the energy level going down as the fight went on in addition to the eye swelling up. i knew the swelling would get to him the longer it went on but i didn't think he'd wave the white flag. i can dig it though, gotta preserve your eye, no need to go blind. i think going up to 160 then coming back to 147 ruining him too, to gain that muscle then lose it takes away that punch resistance a la roy jones. khan probably foaming out the mouth for kell now.
as for spence going forward- i love his offensive arsenal, but he can't fight on the back foot for nothing. he just straight shelled up when kell was on the attack, reminded me of broner vs maidana and porter. there's hope for him cause broner did better in his last fight vs granados on the back foot though.
right now, i'd still lean toward thurman and porter vs spence, but spence offense could give anybody problems. spence kinda fell behind to me, and was gassing a little bit, but showed an excellent 2nd wind the 2nd half of the fight. i do think his come forward style plays into danny garcia hands also. swift likes when you come to him. i think spence got the hands to hurt porter but i don't know if he has the non stop conditioning. brook was fighting in spurts, i think thurman would be more active.
if spence wanna put his belts up vs big time comp asap i ain't mad at it, but if he fights a mando, i don't blame him cause he earned the right to call his shots. grind your way to mando, get the belt and then call your shots. good fight
