Woy Barry, aka Don Bundy, was far and away the star of the 1st NXT; great look, natural on the mic, :ehh: wrestler but hid it well and was just an overall interesting new face. He just oozed magnificent b*stard.

Fast forward to 2012 :belip:

Yeah, I know I know, "But John Cena buried him and the Nexus. :sadbron::sadcam:" :comeon: The storyline didn't have the resolution any of us wanted but that was two years ago. Daniel Bryan took a loss in 18 seconds and his career took off to dizzying heights, meanwhile Barrett hasn't regained 1/5th of his heat since taking that loss to Cena and being exiled to SD by CM Punk (remember that?).

You'd figure the guy who sonned John Cena for a couple of months would be able to maintain enough of that heat and rub to go on and make waves on the shallow pool that is SD and I guess WWE officials thought so too. But 37 themes later :aicmon:

He isn't over. He hasn't had any standout matches. He hasn't had any standout promos since Nexus. What are you guys holding onto? A dream? Potential? You want this guy to be the new William Regal? Not going to happen.

He's a British Del Rio; no matter how many times the WWE tells us this guy matters, no matter how many new themes he gets, no matter how many times he's shoehorned into the upper midcard the crowd is just :snooze:

When are you all going to give up on him? Or are you all still living off that Nexus high :ahh: like a crackhead chasing that first hit.

He's had standout matches...with Sheam Da Gawd :jawalrus:

I actually like Barrett. Probably even more than I did during the Nexus run. I think he can go and can speak. :manny:

He ain't better than Fella though. So that needs to stop.

The difference between Del Rio and Barrett is that Del Rio has had a lackluster title run. If Barrett gets the strap and fails, then we can give up on him. I still wonder though what would have happened with ADR if he won at WM27? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I always :heh: when people try to sneak Barrett into the Punk/Bryan/Cesaro category while acting like Sheamus has to be led around the ring by his nose. As far as mic skills go, Barrett is good, but he hasn't had to go against type. Imagine Barrett trying to be the corny wise ass Sheamus is forced to be. Barrett's promos are always about tenderizing someone, not hard if you have decent mic skills. But you'd think he was dropping gems out there let some of these guys tell it.

As for Del Rio, that WM loss really hurt (WWE wasn't seeing clearly on that one at all :mjpls:), but it should not have killed him. He's had two reigns since and has been in the title picture pretty much his entire run. No excuse for him.

You're nuts. Barrett has had some of the most hilarious matches this year. He gets no real mic time so he can get himself over again but they'll give him a full push at some point in 2013. He should of been holding that MITB case earlier this year and the antics at the Smackdown Elimination Chamber were on point. He's the definition of what a maineventer should be in today's era. Wade Barrett is :boss: status.

Nah..the matches were HILARIOUS. He KICKED the shyt out of Sheamus in those matches and he took Kofi's head off a few weeks ago. Some of the stiff and comical moments in the ring this year:laugh: Him and Cesaro are trying to one up each other in that zone it seems.
