Woy Barry, aka Don Bundy, was far and away the star of the 1st NXT; great look, natural on the mic,
wrestler but hid it well and was just an overall interesting new face. He just oozed magnificent b*stard.
Fast forward to 2012 :belip:
Yeah, I know I know, "But John Cena buried him and the Nexus.
"
The storyline didn't have the resolution any of us wanted but that was two years ago. Daniel Bryan took a loss in 18 seconds and his career took off to dizzying heights, meanwhile Barrett hasn't regained 1/5th of his heat since taking that loss to Cena and being exiled to SD by CM Punk (remember that?).
You'd figure the guy who sonned John Cena for a couple of months would be able to maintain enough of that heat and rub to go on and make waves on the shallow pool that is SD and I guess WWE officials thought so too. But 37 themes later
He isn't over. He hasn't had any standout matches. He hasn't had any standout promos since Nexus. What are you guys holding onto? A dream? Potential? You want this guy to be the new William Regal? Not going to happen.
He's a British Del Rio; no matter how many times the WWE tells us this guy matters, no matter how many new themes he gets, no matter how many times he's shoehorned into the upper midcard the crowd is just
When are you all going to give up on him? Or are you all still living off that Nexus high
like a crackhead chasing that first hit.
