All these different examples. To some degree I do, but I really can't understand how people don't see Jay as the GOAT.

he isn't deep with it, & when he "is", it's too forced/fake sounding. also he's not on the level of BIG, Nas, or Slick Rick when it comes to storytelling tracks. he's the GOAT at wordplay though

it's obvious he did the song just to say he has a "meaningful" song in his catalogue
sounded soul-less, didn't come from the heart
same with "A Ballad for the Fallen Soldier" & "Where Have You Been"
you could feel Beans' pain on "WHYB" but Jay's didn't seem authentic
that's the main reason why Jay had the worst verses of all the Scarface/Beans/Jigga collabos, you could feel the hurt in Face's & Beans' rhymes, & in their music in general
