IN Canada we do BEDMAS. So if they question was to be asked in our classrooms the right answer would be 1 :yeshrug:
When i wrote "in that order" i forgot that division/multiplication and subtraction/addition carry the same weight and are just done from left to right. meaning that subtraction isn't done after addition strictly, because subtraction IS addition( + a negative number). The problem is that we're taught to go in order strictly. I made that mistake earlier.

When you get to the point where you can either divide or multiply the equation, you ALWAYS multiply it first! that's where PEMDAS comes into play. Yes multiplication and division hold the same weight in equations like this, but that's why PEDMAS tell you to MULTIPLY before you DIVIDE when you're in that situation.

No you're not. People have just forgotten their lesson. They haven't seen PEMDAS in years, yet they're tryna act like experts.

People around the world are going to get different answers

There is a reason why there is a divide between people saying 9 or 1

If you're from United States. You're following PEMDAS, where you multiply then divide. so in this scenario you would do 6 / 2 x 3 = 6 / 6 = 1
If you're from Canada. You're following BEDMAS, where you divide, then multiply. so in this scenario you would do 6 / 2 x 3 = 3 x 3 = 9

Even I was wrong since I got 1 the first time and i'm in canada lel

watch me still be wrong though haha

Doing the addition does not get rid of the parenthesis yet brehs

6/2(3)

Got folks on here throwing in symbols that arent even there. Where tf you getting the x in 6/ 2 x 3 from?????? You cant just write shyt that isnt there

Doesnt matter what PEMDAMS BEMDAS shyt you follow :what:

This is it...

Replace parens with x and do problem left to right

6/2x3

I finished engineering school and ive done enough algebra through calc to know this

6 ÷ 2x is not the same as (6÷2).X

You've made up new parentheses. The question is faulty but I think the closest most accurate interpretation would require the X to be attached to the 2.

It's 1. I dont give a fukk if you are from Canada, there is a reason why us from the US is used as the standard for money and generally accepted accounting principles. You start with the Parenthesis and continue to work the answer from that angle. You still have to get rid of the denominator and it all comes to 6/6 = 1

The white man wants you to divide (and conquer) first so most people will divide then multiple :jbhmm:

But real nikkaz know it's only ONE answer :jawalrus:

In case it hasn't been answered it's 1.

PEMDAS

Parenthesis first
Exponents next
Multiply then
Divide followed by
Adding finally
Subtract

So in 6÷2 (1+2)

You add the 1+2 first because it's in parentheses then multiply the results by 2 which leads to 6÷6=1
