You remind me of this guy who I used to do video production with, we were smoking one night, discussing ideas for videos and when I smoke I'm a really emotional version of my sober self, he begins talking about how he wants to "add more bytches to the videos" because "that's what brings in the views" and in that moment I realized that dude had no real passion for creating art for the sake of creating something that is an extension of his vision, dude just wanted money and hearing him talk about something I care about in such a callus and cold way lowkey broke my heart and also made me understand what the "something" that was missing from his end product was.

Dude shoots with a $10,000 camera and the end product still didn't feel good because to him, it's just a means to an end but I've literally turned down money when I was in NO position to and did work free of charge just so I could produce things that I could say I felt good about and then go to sleep on a carpet under a fukking quilt.

If you're looking to cash out, go be a fukking investment Banker and work with other soulless people, but don't come here and talk down on people who put out great work and have the opportunities and access they have because they put out great work without compromise. DS is pretty fun but there is a difference between paper chemistry and bench chemistry; you think it will work on paper but you can get a different out come when you get on the bench.

I was planning on going into the pharmaceutical industry and try to get my MS in pharmaceutical science; but life happened.



Right now I work in R&D but in the petro/polymer chemistry field. R&D is cool but you have to deal with a lot of egos and shyt. For you trying to get into the drug field; make sure you take p chem and o chem seriously and in O chem understand FT-IR, GC-MS and NMR. In the R&D lab when you first start out your going to get all the shyt the lead chemist don't want to do. They will tell you synthesize this ______ and I need it by the end if the day or I need it by xyz day. R&D is real laid back and when you know your shyt you can talk a lot of shyt.

The p chem will help you out because there are some medicines in which you would have to do physical labor like emulsions:




They will give you projects to do; but they will train you (sometimes); a lot of the stuff I learned I had to do it on my own with no help. I did fukk up; but you learn from your mistakes. Also I did not start in R&D I had to work my way up aka the hard way.

Before I got into this field I worked as a molecular biologist testing pharmaceutical drugs for hiv research and other bloodborne pathogens.

Well if you're all about the money most people in these mediums aren't going to help you. It's easy to see who has genuine love for what they do as compared to those who just want the money. Yes part of it is being able to make a living and provide but when it comes to this, it's a passion not a job and just seeing it as a job you end up losing the true purpose of your vision.

There are only a small number of things that can be said to point you in the right direction. But this is all about self discovery. That's the best part of these mediums, finding your own voice. A good number of us had nobody to give us pointers (we may be given little pointers but understand we have to keep our methods to ourselves otherwise you end up just being a imitation rather than an individual) we have to go out and find it ourselves plus at the end of the day we never stop learning.

The growth and development of anyone's work from the earliest of images that you shot to now represents the struggle. It's doesn't have to be the narrative of just one topic that we have to cover we gravitate towards what our environment and that can be many things. We all have different avenues and it's about your having your own signature style.

You represent the struggle. That's cool do your thing, keep it up. and let others do what they feel is their vision in this game. There's plenty of room for us all to inspire!
