You remind me of this guy who I used to do video production with, we were smoking one night, discussing ideas for videos and when I smoke I'm a really emotional version of my sober self, he begins talking about how he wants to "add more bytches to the videos" because "that's what brings in the views" and in that moment I realized that dude had no real passion for creating art for the sake of creating something that is an extension of his vision, dude just wanted money and hearing him talk about something I care about in such a callus and cold way lowkey broke my heart and also made me understand what the "something" that was missing from his end product was.

Dude shoots with a $10,000 camera and the end product still didn't feel good because to him, it's just a means to an end but I've literally turned down money when I was in NO position to and did work free of charge just so I could produce things that I could say I felt good about and then go to sleep on a carpet under a fukking quilt.

If you're looking to cash out, go be a fukking investment Banker and work with other soulless people, but don't come here and talk down on people who put out great work and have the opportunities and access they have because they put out great work without compromise. Spin has BEEN putting in work, and in my opinion, he deserves what he's being blessed with, you on the other hand want nikkas to hold your hand and walk you to the money when that's literally impossible.

how can you expect to network or build a quality team with your terrible attitude, you seriously need to take a step back and do a self analysis and get it together fam.

Talk to people who have been where you are and who have reached where you want to go.

I know @bdizzle is a Security/Infrastructure Eng/Architect (i'm assuming).
I know @Rusty Kuntz is a Systems Architect
I am a Network Engineer turned Systems Engineer (as of last week)
I know we have plenty of people who have varying levels of dev experience (myself included)
We have plenty of Admins and SMEs as well.

The first thing I do whenever I see someone who has a cert/title I want, I ask them how they got where they are, and what advice they have to offer. Everyone has a different path, but all experiences are useful knowledge.

If 1 nikka brushes you off, keep it pushing. There is a wellspring of knowledge and experience here.

Hell I hit up my old CE classmates from time to time to shoot the shyt and talk about new opportunities. The job i'm in now I basically got from 1 networking meeting with the right person.

Short version: I'm just saying everyone should use the resources we have available. TheColi is not lacking for IT professionals

Thats cool and all but very IT specific. I wonder if there is a directory to find out what other coli professionals do to learn from someone in any particular field
