It was phenomenal up until the last 30 minutes or so. That last scene where they all collectively make the "decision" I was in the theater like
If it weren't for the last act I'd say the film is a borderline masterpiece TBH. The atmosphere and overall tone are unlike anything I've ever seen in a war film. It just felt so authentic.
LeBeouf and Bernthal were amazing.
Pitt and Lerman were very good.
Pena was cool, probably the weakest link IMO.
I read the script before seeing the movie and they actually had to cut a few fairly graphic scenes:
That part where Pitt sees the captured SS captain and swings on him. Well in the script he violently stabs dude in the chest with his knife.
Also, the scene where them kids blow up the tank w/ a rocket launcher. In the script, one of the kids is still alive and Pitt walks right up and shoots him point blank. There was some more shyt I can't recall ATM
Anyway, I honestly don't think you need to see it in the theater. Just make sure when you do see it, it's on a big screen with good sound.
Nail on the head. I was invested but this flick did not close. I was honestly offended by the audience's reaction to pena as pure comic relief. And upon second thought, Shia really did deliver. I just found it trite and overly modernized in more ways than one--overall.

it was good-ish, but not great. and yeah, the last 30 minutes had some eye roll moments like a muthafukka
also, i did notice that everyone in my theater considered michael pena comedic relief only. kind of weird, considering some of the things he said in the movie (and the girl in the tank)
some of the scenes felt very well done, and gritty, the way it should be. other scenes felt like "hey guys we need this to feel more war like, so let's throw in some war cliche/badassery
so much of it felt hit or miss to me. can't quite put my finger on it now but it just seems like some scenes were out of place and that some of the old time war cliches came out too much
the main character, the new guy, his transformation from scared newcomer to grizzled war vet just seemed to happen way to fast IMO
idk brehs, this movie should have been a lot better than it was. i would have to re-watch it to really put together my thoughts cohesively
i laughed too when they were "leaving" that house and the explosion happens. it was so painfully obvious that was gonna happen it took away from the plot. u knew they had to "switch" him by the end of the movie, but theres no way THAT'S how they're gonna do it right? nah, that's exactly how they did it.
more i think about this movie the less i like it lol
My bad, you're one of those Taranino stans who watch his films and disregard the bits where it shyts on Black folks. In this case you've managed to watch the film and only recalled appro. 10 minutes of it. Dont let me rain on your parade

art imitates life. black people aren't the only ones getting shyt on in movies. And at least it's overt and over the top in a Tarantino movie. I'm assuming your one of those black people that only looks at things in one dimension? If you're gonna call me out on something do it. Don't be silly or passive aggressive..
