5/7/22 UPDATE
So it's been like 18 months, and I'm pretty much back to normal. When I was shot in the arm, it shattered my humerus above the elbow which gave me bad nerve damage in my hand where I could not open my hand or lift my wrist.
That nerve damage lasted for like 6 or 7 months. by summer 2021, my hand was 99% good and is still good to this day for the most part. the crazy part was, I was back working like a month after this happened since I worked at the crib. the worst part was having to use a computer with my right hand exclusively for the first few months. I also had a second WFH part time job I was doing, so having the one hand was brutal.
However, the shot I took in the anke shatterd my fibula and tibia at the ankle. That is why I fell immediately trying to stand up after being shot as I didn't feel anything. my foot was literally going the wrong way like dude in the movie "misery".
I ended up having 3 surgeries on my left ankle. the first was to stabilize it. that lasted like 3 or 4 weeks. Then I had a second surgery where they put titanium plate and screws in my leg. that took like 4 months before I could heal. by april 2021, I was walking again. I mean my ankle still hurt like hell, but I was able to walk.
fast forward to now, I been having the titanium in my ankle and been able to walk reasonably well all this time. that shooting robbed me of the ability to run, job or jump off my left leg. the doctor told me I'd probably never run again, and I resigned myself to that.
so when they put the metal in my leg, the incision would not heal in over a year and got infected, so they decided to take the hardware out so it would finally heal. that happened last week. and what ended up happening as a by product of the titanium being removed is ALL the range of motion in my left ankle immediately came back within 2 days. not only that, I was able to jump and run again without pain. so that was a miracle. as soon as the stitches are out my ankle, I plan on resuming running this summer

How did your family (wife/kids) react and take the news? Have they been helping with the rehab?
