Why is this book from the 1700s, describing all these people in Europe as Black?

I'm honestly surprised Black people stayed that long in Europe, especially Western Europe. I figured they'd be all out by 1600.

Let’s talk about running Africa and our own neighborhood before running anywhere else

There were definitely some Africans in Europe -
a few even held high positions in various societies.

But by a huge margin, black people were not on Europe like that. Like we made up such a minority it’s we’re probably over represented in artwork and text documents. It makes sense logically, an outlier will always get the most attention especially the earlier you go. Also “black” did not have any meaning attached to it before a few hundred years ago - so there definitely wasn’t a clear definition for a person of African ancestry.

Geographically, it’s such a stretch to even get to Europe and there was almost no reason to travel that far north.

Africa is the largest continent on the planet - traveling from South to North West/East Africa would have been an incredible feat. Much more remarkable than going to Europe.

yes blacks ruled europe BEFORE THE MOORS. It was blacks who started the european knighthoods. There is plenty of evidence but many of their ancient illuminated manuscripts have had the images of kings, knights and nobles WHITEWASHED. Russia was able to preserve more than anyone else. Look up Russian icons, the only form of art allowed in Russia for centuries, everything they drew was of black people including Christ

There were black civilizations in Greece and probably Italy probably Southern Spain too during Egypt's prime. But farther North Like Germany or the British Isles there may have been contact but nothing major or permanent because there's really no resources and it's cold

Depends on what era you're talking about when referring to Berbers. If you're referring to the middle ages then yeah there were a lot of mixed Berbers. But the Moors and Berbers were mostly black breh.

If Moors where black people, how come the majority of black people in Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria are at the bottom in society?
Logic would say that they were never that high ranking to begin with. A few soldiers here and there but not the sultans and emirs calling the shots.
No Senegalese, Mali and black people nearest noth african berbers have a strong oral history or written about these blacks that conquered Europe. You would think that that history will be kept somewhere.

Its plenty of books with historical accounts of the moors being black. Its not even some deep mystery.
