:stopitslime: I never said 400k, I said 100k
Nah, you said something about coming from a 400k household in California years ago. That’s literally the only reason we all said you were out of touch. 100k isn’t middle class but like someone said “lifestyle” creep. You get to that and start doing things you couldn’t and see them as necessities and then all of a sudden you don’t have as much disposable income. It’s not even necessarily living beyond your means. You send your kids to private school and then all of a sudden it’s a different ball game. Or something like childcare instead of leaving them with family. It all comes into effect.

Not exactly. You have studios and 1bdrm apartments in major cities going for 2500 / month.

2500x12 = 30,000. That's nearly half someone's income 100k income, after taxes.

Not mention the bid for houses is insane. People are overbidding in cash, by 70k+ for a house. That's people with money.

If people are living check to check, imagine someone with "money" having to overbid on a house by 70k

Have to get roommates

Simple Mobile has a $40 plan. My FPL electric bill for the past two months have hovered around $33 and it's mostly due to TV and fridge, will most likely increase from now on due to the AC use. Gas and water is already included in the rent. I pay $35 for Xfinity internet.

I buy my own groceries and cook, but do ubereats twice a month. All this is in Miami FL.

Back in 2018, I bought a clean 2008 Honda Accord for $4000 at a car auction. There wasn't anything wrong with the car. I did the tune up, replaced the motor mounts and put new Firestone tires and some tints. Total repair cost about $1800. I put it all on my credit card and paid it off in less than a year.

Aaaaahhhhh...Check my thread out....you are talking about today. Not a family for 100k. We live about the same, apologies.

I can't survive on 15gb internet for simple mobile. 20 mbps internet speed ain't cutting it either. Also I eat out 6 meals a week. As cheap as I am...The internet is required, the cell phone is required.

I bet if every adult was asked then that paycheck to paycheck percentage would be a lot higher

raising interest rates is intended to curb inflation.

I know...that's the only reason why they're doing it, but I'm not sure how that's going to turn out because inflation is on fire and hiking rates alone isn't going to work IMO. It should take out some of the exuberant spending but we will still see highly elevated prices in a lot of sectors.
