No because for many it would force them to look at their favorite rapper because it applies or that rapper tried to make it so. Rap been pop for almost 3 decades. All pop means is popular and no genre has been bigger this century. Also hating involves jealousy and wishing ill. I didnt detect either. Sounds like his opinion which he is obviously entitled to.
Basically. Drake been the face of it but Mos Def’s statement applies to mainstream rap as a whole

has he always talked like that? he sound like he's LGBTQ on Percocet. the mannerisms 2 :picard:

I have a lot of mighty mos tribute threads n the booth but this guy had to leave the continent to avoid honoring his debts.

Make a diss record or shut the fuk up.

Between this and that lil cease twirling naked in a room full of men thread(that I refuse to enter) Brooklyn has been going out sad.

Pop smoke was really the last of the shake in the bottom of the bag for yall. RIP

People are gonna focus on the whole Target bit but the “what’s in it for your audience besides banging the Pom poms” should be the focus
That quote is absolute ether, and there's really no rebuttal to it even if you're a fan, which is fine. His music has been vapid and about nothing for over ten years. He's a pop artist lol If you like that, great, but it's not memorable like say, Black on Both Sides

Mos sounding like a hater. When's the last dope project/song he's put out?

Black On Both Sides and Blackstar were earth shattering. Blew my fukking mind. His fall off is probably the worst in hip-hop history.

Not for nothing he abandoned hip-hop and made hipster experimental williamberg Cafe music his damn self.

The hate is out of control now.
The old heads cannot just enjoy retirement and give kudos to who is at top of the game?

His whole quote was full of shade and dismissal of what Drake has done for the game of Hip Hop that we all love.

breh it all stems from envy. breh had to run across the globe cause he broke n won't pay his debts. I think it was label debts AND child support debts.

u can't respect anything that someone says if thats how they live.

Okay, Drake is a greater emcee than Mos Def though. Drake gave Common work on Stay Scheming. Drake did so many great things. Mos Def was dope when he came out. But when he force fed himself those tubes down his throat on video - and he wasn't in war. I looked at that like self abuse. Mos Def also came out as "Conscious" but what's good about him performing MF Doom songs in Europe? Getting paid off another man's art? And that's a new move. Same with this swipe at Drake.

Edit - please see my reply after this. I've since listened to other Coli Breh's perspectives on this, apologized and have changed my opinion. I'm a changed man! :hhh:
