Not really, he just kept a low profile and knows local politics. He’s Shrewd.

Tish James was on deck for the Mayor job and Cuomo moved her to AG to keep her from being a thorn in his side as a strong mayor. On the low I think she could have challenged him for Governor eventually if she stayed on the path she was on.

Stringer knew Deblasio’s ThriveNYC was a shyt show. His report showed it had no real metrics for how it could be judged and in a lot of ways was just Deblasio giving Nonprofits money, and he didn’t say shyt because he knew he had to run. He’s Corey Johnson levels of a political player, but idk if he has a “plan” for NYC.

Same for Adams, another insider who is even better at wheeling and dealing, though him being black and from Brooklyn hurts his ability to get support from the rest of the city.

Deblasio let his hunt for his next job ruin his current one. I don’t expect much from anyone running for this race.

I wish Jumaane was running

Yea I wish Jumaane was running too. I thought he would when he started taking all those shots at DeBlasio

I think he has another term as Public Advocate that he should win. When he is termed out he could run for a lot, and even prep for the next Mayor open election.

He seems generally liked by everyone except for Corey Johnson who honestly may have only had beef with him due to wanting to be speaker of the council.

honestly as local NY'ers, this may be the most important local vote this generation/city will have. it can be argued that it may be the most important local vote in the history of the city because of the covid effects. Yang has some good ideas...but im curious how his weird UBI will be applied...if everyone not getting it on various scales...then its gonna be a hard sell beyond a cheap hustler promise to be honest. theres alot more qualified people running in terms of experience with running this city behind the scenes/political wheeling and dealing.

He is a goofy

I think it’s between Adam’s, and Stringer with McGuire as a far distant third.

Most mayor campaigns come down to the debates and I think this one will too. Deblasio only got elected because he was anti Bloomberg and took a stance against stop and frisk.

Whoever wins that Mayor debate will win this race

dont sleep on the former sanitation commissioner. that lady knows how to run the city inside and out, she saved De blasio on numerous projects and emergencies.

Jumaane has the juice but he already said he has no interest in being mayor. I'll never forget his acceptance speech when he won public advocate :wow:

This. Garcia is on the money and knowns how to run city gov

Lead, NYCHA, sanitation, etc. She knowns how to handle/get stuff down. She just doesn't have that name rec as other candidates that have held office

Yang is completely unqualified and attempting to conman sell an unachievable pipedream like UBI to a broke city...

If this guy were to win, the mass exodus from the city would skyrocket, people would flee as fast as his bytchass did to New Paltz...

If I had to pick right now, Garcia should be the easy frontrunner based on experience in getting shyt down at the city level...

Stringer is probably the most powerful politically wise of the whole group running...and hes highly intelligent with a sly "stringer bell" touch to his moves. its going to be an interesting race for sure...for once i look forward to politics.

Yep I was going to say Garcia is starting way back, no local political backing because Stringer and Adams are splitting that, and she can’t go the big money cause McGuire has that, arguably she needs to get the city unions behind her. She has a really good reputation with city/mayor employees but nobody knows her outside of that. Maybe she can become the unions candidate?

Stringer is split with Adams for most embedded. It’s not a coincidence their fundraising is so close. McGuire coming in with 5 Mil is the money that either of them could have used to bury the other.

Stringer surprised me too. I thought he was a nothing candidate but he’s been doing the work fundraising and getting endorsements. It was supposed to be him vs Tish but she took the Job from Cuomo, so I can see how his preparation is benefitting him.

Garcia is going to have to clearly win the debate. That is her (and everyone else’s) best chance to win the race.
