To be fair, Aaron had nothing to do with season 4. I think a few more key writers were gone as well. While things may not be as good as past seasons, I think things will at least be better than season 4.

Aaron was actually involved in season four to some degree. I don't know how much he did or what he did exactly, but Sony fired him because episodes were taking too long to make.

Carl Jones wasn't involved in season four either and he's not part of the reboot. He was one of the major reasons why the show worked so well in the first three seasons, so I hope they found someone worthy to take his place.

It won't be as good. People forget that the Boondocks went out on a trash note. Also, these are different times. Shea butter twitter is gonna bash the show like crazy if it gets too non-PC

It went out on a trash note because Aaron wasn’t involved. He is now back as the showrunner and head writer.

The animation got better toward the end, maybe we'll get a combination of both with the new series?

That's true but I also think Aaron was running out of ideas. How do you think Boondocks will do in today's environment where everyone is sensitive and runs to twitter? I can see folks trying to cancel McGruder after one controversial episode. OR he may try to pander to the shea butter twitter crowd which will minimize controversy but make the show lose it's edge

Somebody was suggesting or speculating that they bring in Jennifer Lewis as Granddad's sister for the boys to live with, which I would be fine with.

Jennifer Lewis always brings the fukkery. This would be great. Got the perfect voice to be an evil ass grandma

The Chi (South Side)
no john witherspoon, no charlie murphy, and regina king won an oscar since that show last aired. they simply took too much time.

Breh, with how much fukkery has happened since he's been involved, there's damn near endless content he could pull from.

It's also animated so I don't think it would get cancelled by twitter/shea butter culture. I actually think we need more of this kind of content back in these times. Atlanta and Insecure can only hold it down for so long

been watching on HBO Max, I never watched season 4...it was trash, but this show is needed in these times. that Fried Chicken Flu episode could've easily been about that Popeye's sandwich last year

When that Kevin Hart controversy went down, I thought about the season four finale when Granddad said that Riley's homophobic comments would get the family blacklisted in Hollywood. And Granddad would never get to host the Oscars.

At the time, I thought it was just a stupid joke, but a few years later, they ended up predicting the whole thing. :ohhh:
