I would too, but honestly, the success would depend on the writing. The reason previous attempts have fallen flat is that they're mostly just scripts that were written in a vacuum with a default (meaning white) interpretation of the characters, and they decided to cast a black person for the role. I think something that was written with a black actor in mind that accounts for their uniquely different personality, but doesn't overcompensate for it would be great.
Studios think that when we say we want a black James Bond for example, that we want James Bond played by a black guy, when in actuality what they're being asked for is James Bond actually written as a black man.
