"He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, as he averaged 1.6 blocks per game (bpg) (this is RIDICULOUS for a guard :why:), a league-high 3.1 steals per game (spg), and led the Bulls defense to the fewest points per game allowed in the league. The Bulls finished 50–32, with the #3 Def Rtg of 105.5."

Looks pretty valid to me. :yeshrug: Unless you think it was actually esteemed names such as *checks notes* Granville Waiters and... Sedale Threatt who were leading the team defensively. :dead: I don't wanna hear no shyt from capping, hating ass Scottie Trippen neither bout how it was "his team" and he was the best defensive player getting credit "stolen from him" when he was a rookie barely averaging 20 mpg coming off the bench literally every game that season. :unimpressed:And this article is completely bunk besides these points: LeBron hasn't dedicated more than ~5 minutes of real effort per game on defense since Obama was in office. He's been "chasing" MJ's DPOY about as ferverently as his biggest groupie Fat Elephant cac has been pursuing a low calorie diet over the past 10-20 years. :sas2: Don't wanna hear shyt about "the scorekeepers cooked his books"' neither when we JUST had a DPOY a year ago allegedly getting make-a-wish blocks added to his statlines every game, who has since been exposed as a fraud after his star guard spent most the season injured/suspended and unable to carry his ass. :umad:

The point completely flew over your head and you calling the article bunk. Typical. :mjlol:

And the JJJ point you made was addressed in there too. But again, yall can't read.

That doesn’t mean accusations haven’t surfaced. Last year, when a Redditor claimed that Jaren Jackson Jr.’s Defensive Player of the Year candidacy was propped up by homer-biased stats, the power of the Internet and access to video technology services allowed an army of NBA writers to instantly pull up Jackson’s hundreds of blocks and steals and evaluate their validity. The verdict was delivered within minutes and it was unanimous: the blocks and steals were legit.

However, in the Jordan era, media members weren’t able to put the microscope on home/road disparities, whether it was for Jordan or other star players. In the late ’80s, there was no internet, no social media pressure to get things right, no public system of accountability.
NYT came to the same conclusion:

Biased trash ass article btw, just look how its worded :mjlol:

Here's another passage from the article:

With a 6-0 record in the NBA Finals, Jordan finished his career with a résumé as shiny as any human being who has stepped onto the hardwood. He was a relentless two-way superstar from the guard position — soaring above the opponent and casting shadows across an era dominated by giants. There will never be another Michael Jordan.

Wow. What an evil hit piece. :comeon:

Finished the article and it was fair.

Haberstroh was clear in saying Jordan was still among the best defenders in the game. But they found inconsistencies in how his stats were recorded at home that particular season.

What's telling is that many of the things people accuse Lebron, Harden, Westbrook and others of....Jordan himself was guilty of those same things. But that's not something within the scope of the article. It's just what becomes apparent if you analyze the man.

As is becoming more common each day, Jordan stans are getting up in arms at any scrutiny or attempt to look at MJ's career and era with a different perspective and taking it as a personal attack to somehow bring him down, rather than an attempt to contextualize things more appropriately.

I would also add that the same inconsistencies in scorekeeping that the article levies at Michael Jordan and Bob Rosenberg, were also levied at Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal and Nick Van Exel...so let's cut the bullshyt of this exercise being a targeted attack on His Airness.

This is an expansive and well-researched piece but watch Jordan dikkriders discredit it without reading, as expected.

You already see it in this thread. :mjlol:

- Jordan was awarded 28 steals, while he had only 12 based on the footage
- In one game, Jordan was credited with more steals than the other team had turnovers!
:dead:

Jordan winning DPOY was always some hero worshipping BS but this shyt takes the cake. And yet these old dikkriders bytch about the "Klutch media" :mjlol:

As usual, none of these MFs in here are addressing the meat of the article, just deflecting and making personal attacks.

This isn't even new info necessarily. This user uncovered the shady statkeeping of the Bulls back in February.

Why not just show the games where the alleged fake stats exists. Nobody cares a out this "believe me bro" shyt :mjlol:

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
I remember that 88 season

That season started MJ on the path to being a mythical legend

The NBA gave him every award that year and
It started with the dunk contest that everyone knew that Dominique won

I thought giving him DPOY that year was a stretch
