I want to like this show but the deconstructed storytelling is making it a chore to get through and aside from President Diane Lane and Agent 355 I'm not feeling any of the characters.
Worst of all I immediately hated Yorick which shouldn't have happened because I really liked the character in the comic.
Yep, don't know what they were thinking with that casting, dude has no charisma.

That's the other thing that irked me.
If they wanted to go with civilization falling then they should've started the show like 5-10 years after the virus and then they can do flashbacks of how political/religious/moral differences caused a civil war that ended up fukking over everyone.
But having society fall apart in 3 weeks just drives home a point that I really don't think the woman running this show wanted to put out there: namely that women can't run shyt.
TBF in real life shyt would go south even faster and even worse if all the women died.

Yeah this shyt kinda stupid.
So all of female society crashes in a week cause aint no men around? :wtf:
So aint no women who know how to get cellphone towers up, or make small farms and gardens, and turn water and power on?
This shyt should not take place in today. Should take place in the 1930s-60s before women entered the workforce.
It makes 0 sense as to why they living like this :dahell:
No because those jobs have majority of men working them. Police, firefighters, powerplants, etc, almost all men. Who you gonna call to fix shyt when there is literally no one to call to fix shyt:dead:
Even if they train people they also don't have enough bodies to get it done in a timely manner.

The writer described it perfectly.

We hired a researcher who made up eight, incredible, 600-page binders of research and I learned so much about how f-cked we are. I feel like I talked about this in the TCAs a little bit and then I feel a little dumb being like, "Do you know how important trucks are?" But, basically, what I learned is that our entire economy runs in this ... It's a "just-in-time" economy, so everybody relies on multiple deliveries a day from trucks and 5% of truck drivers are women. Also, this event happens all at once, so there's car accidents, people are driving to work and then they all die. The streets are choked with cars, planes fall out of the sky, and then you have ... It's a really interesting thought experiment to think about.

If we're looking at a field that is male-dominated, like engineering or something, and then you do have, there's obviously people who are not cismen who work as engineers, but it's just way fewer of them. If you think about the sheer number of catastrophes that there are and the ways that we have to ... If there's a bunch of women working at NASA, are they going to stay working at NASA or are they going to be called up to do something else? Because we still have to maintain the dams and our electrical grid is shoddily constructed and a patchwork of systems that have to constantly be maintained. I think the immediacy of the American economy, in particular, means that we have crumbling infrastructure right now, so what's going to happen when half the world dies? It's going to look pretty bleak for a little while."

This makes sense if you figure the engineering field is dominated by men, a long with a lot of public service & emergency jobs.

Half the world population vanishes and yeah, theres no way to keep the majority of structures we depend on running.

Yeah, not to mention the emotional toll it takes when all these women are losing their children, husbands, brothers, fathers etc. No one knows whats going on and there are planes falling out the sky and shyt blowing up everywhere.

Even worse cause we use a bunch of prison labor for basic maintenance, cheap manufacturing, and large firefighting.

All gone

This show is straight comedy. A true glance on what it would look like without men. Im def going to continue watching this series. I i wish i read the comic.
