stop making excuses for Microsoft. I guess every console launch had been anti consumer. It's anti consumer to have games for a new platform? When does anti consumer stops? A few years after launch? I want Halo Infinite for my 360!

What about us?!
New consoles used to be completely different architecture. Since this one isn't it makes sense what they're doing. Having that transition means people that can't afford the new hardware can still play new games and as the price of the new hardware comes down they can upgrade and keep playing.

Microsoft is pushing Game Pass. Why cut off a good portion of that install base if they don't have to?

This is a different approach for a different business model. Hell it's arguable that even after the cutoff new games will still be playable on Xbox One over xCloud.

Have your games available to tens of millions of systems :hula:have your games only available to a fraction of that during the first couple years

I swear this Thread is retarded :snoop: y’all Stan these consoles so hard but don’t know how game developing works. How is this looked at as a L? They are not forcing you to be a early adopter just to play a game on next gen. And it’s retarded to say the games will be held back when there are plenty of game companies out there that specifically port games from next gen

Repped for intelligent responses

Who cares about freaking people that can't afford it. We should stop innovation and progression because some people are broke? The whole point of a new console is to wow consumers. How am I getting my money worth if I'm forced to accept meager differences? This is garbage. Have one or two heavy hitters to entice the consumers to buy the new product. Now I know Halo Infinite will be garbage because of the fukking Xbox One. This is trash all gamers matter talk. Give us the fukking games or go home. Can't wait to skip this garbage console release.

Sony's strategy is superior. You get amazing exclusives all the way until the last year and then new console? New games and new exclusives. Those who want it get it, those who don't can wait. MSFT's strategy placates casuals and punishes hardcore gamers. Can't wait to see the stupid look on Xbot's faces when Digital Foundry points out the differences between XsX and Xb1X being some trees being clearer and Master Chief's helmet slightly more shiny.

It seems more of a soft launch transitional period. The new device comes out and there are added benefits to having it but there's a transitional period for people to upgrade before getting cut off.

Microsoft at least in the console space has really worked hard at becoming more inclusive and pro-consumer. The option to play their games on the PC if you desire, adding games to Steam, Game Pass on both the console and PC for an instant library, allowing cross-console multiplayer. This is another pro-consumer move.

I don't really see this as a bad thing. In the beginning the install base of the new console isn't going to be high enough to justify giving it exceptional titles as exclusives. Launch periods are easily the worst period of a console's life. They aren't sacrificing much here.
Console launch games can actually sell a lot as there’s very little competition for them and people will buy almost any new game to show off their new console’s power.

But honestly I do see that Xbox at least has a cohesive vision/strategy now... I don't agree with it and won't be getting a Series X. But I do see what they are trying to accomplish. Essentially merging the traditional console market with that of modern PC/Smartphone strategies.

I won't be taking part in it, but I understand what they are trying to do...

High profile titles cost a bit to develop. If at all possible it's better not to limit the target audience early on as new consoles have a low install base at first.

I think we need to see the limitations you're talking about before we condemn them. That is especially true considering the Xbox generations will be based on the same architecture and the games should scale much better. Gamers with 32GBs or RAM and a GTX 2080 Ti on their PCs don't really care that somebody with 8GBs and a 1660 Ti can also play the game. If you have the better hardware you get the better experience.

Not really 2080 TI users know what they're getting. There's a baseline and they get to have the higher graphical effects, better fps resolution etc. The caveat is the tech is still hampered.

Let's say God of War 5 comes out for both PS4 and PS5. Kratos wouldn't be able to fight 300 nikkas at the same time while the world is crumbling and a huge storm is flailing stuff around the world because the PS4 can't handle that. So instead we'll have Kratos fight 30 nikkas and the PS5 will just have better looking enemies and smoother fps. The scene had to be canned.

The game was... HELD BACK.

Nah but seriously.

AC BLack Flag to Unity

GTA V to RDR2

MGSV to DS

Huge differences.

Oh well this is an Xbox problem I have no issues.

Somewhere tropic...
I bought their stock about a year ago and my purchase has gone up over 50% in that span. They look like winners to me.

Windows and Cloud Enterprise. Xbox is not a factor.
Stan shyt aside, as a fellow investor, I'm happy for you :ehh:

Console wars.

Microsoft is not trying to win a console war, their goals have been way bigger from jump.

And right now they have strong presence with PC and consoles.

At some point it's all going to click simply because they are actively working towards it, and have been since the OG xbox.

Right now its not about the hardware sales alone, and t hey also understand that exclusives matter if they are going to stay in the console lane.

Microsoft is doing everything right, if sony has a off gen with "exclusives" they have absolutely nothing to fall back on..
