I am a little disappointed in how gullible some of you guys are. WHY would developers agree to this in any way shape or form? It can theoretically cut game sales by over 50%. NO publisher is going to agree with that unless there is something else that is not being revealed at this time.

Think about this for a second. At this point they would still favor the old business model because Piracy is such a small percentage of the whole userbase that it will be worth to lose those than to enable every single xbox one owner 10 licenses to share across "friends" they acquire over the internet. Cycles would be formed online almost immediately if there was no catch.

People can and have gone without internet connection. We just have smartphones for backup nowadays. But gamers in the rest of the world with bad connections or no connections at all would be dumb to cop an XB1...I'm sure you agree with that.

Now, what we be dope is if MS allowed you to "check in" with your mobile phone if your internet was down.

Idea.... :leon:

Most mobile phones already function as Internet hotspots.

And these gamers "all over the world"'that don't have Internet connections are very few. Statistics say about 80% of the developed world has access to the Internet. The territories that are so far behind that they don't have connections are the territories that are still buying ps2s.

I can say this sucks for military men on deployment. But even then it's a small minority of military enlisted that don't have access to the Internet, they should probably buy a ps4.

Basically what were looking at is the past vs. the future. And id much rather side with the future.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

what does any of that have to do with you saying "This is basically Microsoft saying...HEY you bought that DISC, but we'll check on you every hour"?

edit: you, like rekka, are confusing what they're saying about 'trading' and 'sharing'

I view it as a digital only console, physical format doesn't exist.

80 =/= 100%

You can lose out on MILLIONS of customers like this. Why limit your platform in any way.

You can still look forward to the future without losing money in the process. People continue to think about themselves and the bubble they live in. There are millions of gamers out there with no internet who still own consoles. Even in this country I know PLENTY of cats who have consoles with no internet connection. Now are they the majority? Of course not, but even if 2 out of every 10 doesn't have the internet, but play games, why kick them to the curb.

Consoles makers lose money on consoles, they want us to buy new. IF MS/Sony had it there way we would be digital only right now

I view it as a digital only, always online console, physical format doesn't exist.

Fixed.

And that's exactly what it is. :yeshrug:

There's nothing "wrong" with that, but I'm not leaving money on the table (people with no internet access or reliable internet who still want an Xbox).

From what I read, I can play with no problem at a friend's spot as long as I'm logged in and download the game to his XB1.

But if I let him borrow the disc to play, he can install it and "own" the game as his own. I can't get it back to play. They said it can only be "traded" once.
