nikkas........It's not about the price of Xbox Live. Quit bringing that up. It's the fact that Xbox hides apps behind the Xbox Live Gold subscription service when we all know they should be available to Xbox Live Free members. When Xbox fans keep bringing the price up for Xbox Live Gold, y'all are just making excuses for Microsoft for doing that bullshyt.

If Sony can get their shyt together in the next gen, they could dominate again because they aren't putting popular apps behind a paywall.

Who goes on XBox Live specifically just to use these apps though? I don't think anyone does. People subscribe to XBox Live to play video games online and that is what you're paying for. Being able to use YouTube, Hulu, etc., are just a byproduct once you gain access to XBox Live.

No one in their right mind is paying for Live just to use YouTube.

There are some pretty dumb mufukkaz out there... The point is that free apps like Hulu and Netflix shouldn't be behind the gold firewall

I agree that many of those apps should be free but I don't mind paying for xbl. It's like I said earlier, I pay $1 a month so I have no complaints.

Are you serious? Have you been paying attention to what MS has been promoting the past 2 years? Last year's E3 focused mainly on these apps.

And I'm actually someone who actually uses these apps much more than I play games on the console now.

ESPN and NBA League Pass is the only reason my Xbox gets turned on.

This.

I'm someone who pays maybe 2-3 dollars a month for XBL, so it's nothing to me compared to what I spend on gaming each month, but I find it mindboggling that MS chooses to limit the feature set of the 360 with these shenanigans.

When there wasn't a comparable console online gaming service out there, paying for XBL was absolutely worth it. Since Sony has (somewhat) caught up with a FREE service, Microsoft has chosen to really stretch to justify the (relatively minimal) monthly cost.

Putting demos, apps, and deals behind a paywall is asinine to me.

Demos are not behind a paywall, anyone can download a demo on XBL. Sony has not caught up, if they did i would have sold my xbox by now. But i do agree they have some changes to make next generation which they will, it will start with combining the windows 8 store across all platforms.

Don't Silver members have to wait an extra week?

I did clarify the statement with "somewhat."

And while it's not anywhere close to perfect, PSN's feature set for free and paid users is quite remarkable.
But i do agree they have some changes to make next generation which they will, it will start with combining the windows 8 store across all platforms.
Forgive me if I come off as ignorant, but what? How will a unified marketplace benefit me?

If anything, they need to sort out and advertise their XBLA offerings even more. The lack of promotion for some of these relatively affordable and excellent games is CRIMINAL.

Also, I would much prefer something like dedicated servers for the first year after a game's release, and after multiplayer DLC :yeshrug:

They wait the same amount of time regular PSN members wait after PSN plus members. also they can easily download demos unlike psn members.

bath waters close to spring water I mean. :yeshrug:

Paying once to play arcade games on your phone RT surface windows 8 or xbox? idk how that don't benefit you, well it depends if you own one i guess.

I agree 100% with this although They have gotten better recently, I think they need to continue there current weekly sales throughout the entire next generation.

dedicated servers would be nice, but it's up to the publishers. I think all microsoft studio game should have dedicated servers.

Thanks for the info...

And when it comes to the arcade/phone/PC stuff, I guess that will be cool...right now I don't have either of those things...but I guess that once I do, I might appreciate it a hell of a lot more.

I didn't like the current dashboard when it was first introduced...but once I started using "My Pins" (which is very similar to their Windows Phone stuff [gf had a Windows Phone]), it was pretty damn slick.

I just get a little worried when it seems like they focus more on multimedia and less on games...there's still plenty of room for improvement. Then again, with how slick the setup is now, no need to fix something that's not broken.

Hmm. Why would you have sold your Xbox breh? Looks like you're saying you enjoy PS3's games more than the 360 but the online infrastructure is holding you back :mjpls2:

Were any of the apps ever available for use for free? What can an XBox silver member do?
