:snoop: Close...but still wrong. Sucker Punch did do the Sly and Infamous series, of course, but they aren't developing Sly 4, Sanzaru Games are the ones doing that.:takedat:

 I jus plain didn't know that. I can't be right 100% of the time. The point remains of course.

Probably not going to buy a next gen console for at least a year or 2 into the cycle.

people say that now. but do you really think you're just gonna sit there and be content for 1-2 years while all these new games come out on the new system?

Couldn't disagree with this more. Microsoft has been alienating developers since Kinect. I expect that to change with the launch of 720 to some extent but then it would go back to the way it is now. I think they don't care all that much about exclusives and it shows. Even the XBLA exclusives are mostly timed exclusives. Fez, Trials Evo and Mark of the Ninja have already been ported or announced for PC. That really only leaves Dust and Spelunky from 2012.

Microsoft doesn't view the PC has a viable threat because it isn't,its great for the developers that they allow their games to be ported to PC.I expect to see 90% of pc games ported to the new xbox next gen as well.

My gaming appetite has regressed severely over the past year.

I'd only dive in if there's some package deal of sorts that makes it worth it. But even then, I'm not in a rush to drop 400/500 on a new console when I haven't been playing much of anything lately.

People forget the hit Sony took profit wise? They can't afford to sell a system under what it cost to make...Microsoft can. This gives them more leeway to go hard on the hardware. Sony WONT be able to make equal specs for the same price the box is sold at. The only way will be to release it at a higher price point...which will hurt them.

Plus what will these new games bring that isn't already here? I get it, more power, but we're not about to see GTA5 attention to detail to every game. Sure, graphics will be intense, but there won't be new experiences like from ps1 to ps2 or ps2 to ps3. The hardware leaps are pretty much small hurdles.

What we're going to need to for gaming studios to start forming massive organization to handle potentially massive projects unless we're talking 3-4 years of dev time per game.

That is why I said the vision and warchest (money) from Microsoft is greater.

MS's console turned into more of a streaming box over the years... the console offers great value for content (I literally use it solely for ESPN and NBA League Pass right now).

That's what seems to be where they're taking this. They're already in bed with ISPs allowing people to use their 360 as a content box for their cable providers.

I'm not seeing where the hype is for "gaming" when bringing up their vision though. For the past 2 years, they have been pushing Kinect and internet apps. Am I wrong?

that's kinda irrelevant. personally I've moved on to PC, but that has nothing to do with this conversation. my point was that if you do want to play new games (on consoles), you will be forced to upgrade, or not play any new games until you do. I don't think we're gonna see as much overlap with support like we did with previous generations
