No, Nvidia has shytted on both Sony and Microsoft when it comes to consoles.
With the Xbox, Nvidia wouldn't come down on the cost of the parts, like every other parts manufacturer does when they reach better efficiency. Like when every console has a different version come out, like the Xbox slim and PS3 slim, the nanometer process got gotter and prices are cheaper. Hence the reason Xbox 1 never got a revision.
As far as Sony, Sony wanted specific specs from Nvidia (memory fails me as to what exactly) However, Nvidia told Sony that they couldn't deliver them by the end of 2006 but by the end of 2007. Nvidia was able to do what Sony asked for by the end of 2006 after all. That said, I'd look at it as Nvidia not wanting their top of the line card in a console, thus forcing them to lose money in the long run on the PC enthusiast market but I'm sure Sony looked at it as a sign of distrust.
I'm sure AMD is giving a hell of a deal for both. Remember, Microsoft only paid ATI $5 for every 360 sold and I know Sony was paying Nvidia a lot more. Nvidia has no friends in Microsoft and Sony.
Xenos' design, IP,and technology is wholly owned by Microsoft and I'm sure the technology is being furthered in the next Xbox.

The PS Vita doesn't play PSP games they just made them d/l for the Vita, I think that looks like the same approach Sony will take with the PS4. Besides in order for the PS4 to play PS3 games they would need to include Cell with it and that could be costly even if it's old tech and also challenging. I doubt the next Xbox will be able to play 360 games either.
Imo I find that unnecessary and dumb. Again I know they will probably raise the price of XBL if said features are going to be included. I'm just not into the whole living room social experience MSFT wants to provide with their consoles. I'm into playing games soley with multimedia functionality second. If MSFT doesn't wow me with any new IP's or something that will make gaming better on THEIR device at E3, I'm riding next gen out with PC and PS4. I wish they ported Gears and Halo to PC at least a few months after release as most people buy it within the first few months anyway.

It's not going to be obsolete but AMD and Nvidia excel at different things with GPUs. AMD goes for efficiency mostly while Nvidia is mostly brute force cards. I've never owned anything but ATI/AMD cards but from what I've read, Nvidia is better at writing drivers. You and I have AMD's and Nvidia's Flagship cards. That said, these cards in the new systems aren't fukking with these cards. You will be fine, I just expect seamless performance with my card.
Take a game like Borderlands 2, it's made with Nvidia cards in mind with the Phsyx physics shyt. That runs separate from the GPU. AMD cards don't have Physics stuff on the card but my 7970 is so strong that I was able to run the physics stuff regard and basically let my GPU power its way through the game and I did and it looked fukking glorious.
All in all, you are fine with your 680.
