Just on Monday..THIS PAST MONDAY..everybody..PWI...the Torch...Meltzer..Alvarez ALL SAID the Rock vs Roman was final. The Rock wasn't gonna budge on the match..they basically accuses Rocky of SUDDENLY..out of nowhere for the first time in his career being a Hulk Hogan/Michaels type politician...as if he isn't the one top guy ever who responds directly to crowd reactions in the right role. Social media wasn't around like that and the crowds weren't reacting to anything backstage with Hogan. If it was 2003 or even 2012 Rock probably doesn't pivot. Hulk did become Hollywood when he heard the boos in 95. Hulk also left after 92 for a bit when people were cheering Sid over him. Anybody would pivot getting the heat like that man.
If the backlash wasn't so loud that he had to delete tweets I doubt he would have pivoted. The Rock tried to be Hulk Hogan with DC and F&F breh come on now. I will say he never really politicked in his wrestling career though and never heard of him having issues jobbing.
Hogan heard boos in 92 with Sid at Rumble. He stayed face and the kayfabe era made it easy for him to stay face. Rock comes from the Attitude Era where the jig is up and everyone knows everything. Still got ultra over in record time compared to Austin, Hogan, Taker, Bret, Warrior..anybody in history. Not even close.
