I kind of felt bad for the Rock as he seemed to not know how to respond to the crowd booing him. This might be a Gen Z thing where they are much more privy to what is happening behind the scenes. Let's be real the Rock has always been a bit narcissistic and lately a bit of a politicker. He tried to make the DC universe revolve around him and that backfired he caused issues with the F&F cast and then had to cry back to them. I think he overestimated the goodwill he would have by just coming in and demanding to be in the main event.

More and more of the audience has not been around when he was at his peak so they don't have that same connection as fans who grew up with him. I remember @R=G mentioning years ago that Hulk Hogan wasn't getting the same monster pops he did in the mid to late 2000s and I told him to wait until Rock has been around more than 20 years and there are new generation fans not born when he was around.

This is all clearly a pivot based on the outrage to make Rock heel and just go with it I highly doubt Rock wanted to come back to being a heel and fully expected the same embrace he has been used to just for showing up. Ultimately it's been the hottest wrestling has been for years so I think the Rock handled the presser as well as he could but it was sad to see the hurt in his face since you could tell he tried in the beginning to get a good response for Rock vs Roman and did his best to get the crowd on his side.

I didn't get a chance to watch live (:sadbron:) but from what i've read this is the opposite of when Hogan went from Hollywood to Hulkamania

:dead:

Mania Season :whew:

Yeah Hogan never really got booed as a face even if it was known that he was politicking. He got booed when he eliminated Sid and in WCW right before he turned into Hollywood. Also more recently due to the racist tapes but sporadically and not deafening just the pops weren't what they were in the 2000s for Hulk but that could just be generational and most fans in the arena not being alive in his day.

It just seems that Rock is getting taken to task a bit for being phony and power hungry.

The facial expressions was part of the showmanship.

The Rock knew how that was going down before he step foot on the stage. Don't fall for the okie doke.
It’s like these guys talk about, read about and watch all this wrestling from all these companies and still have no idea when they are being worked :dahell:

They think they are so smart but are just as dumb as the casual fan

Only thing Rock needs to work on is his pacing. Took him way longer than necessary to get the words out. :mjlol:

Yeah its very similar to the whole batista thing, funny thing is all those idiots vowed to never do it again. Rock is good enough with the mic where he can maneuver
