in the Attitude Era they would find good ways to keep feuds going without running the match until the actual PPV and it made the matches feel special

as a kid i woulda been geeked if they ran PPV matches on RAW, they were good at teasing it but saving the match and i think thats whats missing from this era

I see no point in watching PPV matches because odds are the guys feuding have wrestled on Tv multiple times. Or they'll just have a rematch the next night.

Simple shyt like saving matches would make people want to tune in.

A lot of that was due to them actually writing drama outside of the ring to keep shyt going. Along with booking them in tag matches. Undertaker and Austin fought at summerslam 98 and barely touched each other in a match before then. They talked on the mic, they fought on the same side in tag matches, and Taker drew heat with run ins and shyt but they had a compelling storyline around it: Is Taker working with Kane and Paul Bearer and how is Vince connected to it or not connected to it? Is there a conspiracy to take Austin's belt? Compelling ass tv.

And No Mercy is a few weeks after that.....gonna be the same matches for the raw side

Why do people think another boom is coming? Both booms happened because there were enough hardcore fans and casual fans watching. At most we might see mini-booms during WrestleMania season but I don't think we'll see a year again like 98 or 99 when 10+ million people are watching wrestling.

It probably helped that back then all champions only defended their titles on pay per views and special Raw episodes so they had to be creative with their screen time when not defending their titles.
