For the most part I enjoy when WWE does this documentary style programming on the network. Even though it’s their spin on rewriting a history that most us vividly remember.

The Evolution documentary was pretty solid and I like the fact that they spoke on Jindrak potentially being in the group. I got a laugh about Orton basically making everyone regret putting the strap on him within a month. Even though the real reason they made that move was for damage control for erasing Lesnar as the youngest champ in history after his WM 20 exit. Also it was interesting to hear how Vince was campaigning to burn through HHH vs. Batista while HHH was campaigning for a slow build with a massive payoff.

I will admit I hate the fact how this Ruthless Agression series is basically tip toeing around the unsung heroes of the era and singing praises of the guys who are basically part timing now to give us this impression they are still larger than life today.

I mean...what's the fukking ceiling for such a gimmick? That's certainly not the kind of gimmick to make it out of the low card mini boss level. Just immediately putting him behind the eight ball.

Yeah... I don't really see where he could've gone much higher at that time, especially considering the roster SD had. He was not gonna flourish with that gimmick and in that role while Lesnar, Taker, Hogan, Angle, Edge, Benoit, and Guerrero were on the same show.

I know they want to avoid Benoit, obviously, but they've ignored Eddie as well, even in situations where it made sense to bring him up (like Austin had just started an angle with Eddie before he walked out, Cena's most important feud as heel rapper was with Eddie and the culmination in the parking lot match which is really what started his face turn). There's an ep dedicated to the actual competition between the brands, so I have to assume that the Smackdown Six (or Five) will get a big shout out in that ep. Hopefully, at least. It'd be terrible if they just pretend the RA era was Brock, Evolution, Cena, and Batista.

I share those same sentiments. I feel like so far the SD six, RVD’s organic rise, Christian coming into his own, and Shelton Benjamin’s mid card consistency deserve some credit. Truth be told I would be more content Edge getting a full episode before Brock. That’s not to say that Brock wasn’t a crucial component but Edge ended the attitude era as a midcarder/ tag team guy and really found his stride in the RA era. I get that they won’t touch on Benoit , yet Eddie could have gotten his praise. Yet I have this feeling that they will try to shoehorn him into the Brock episode due to his win at No Way Out.

I was around 12-14 during the entire Evolution run and I can’t say the perception was they were the “cool” heels. I remember people hating HHH but that could be a revisionist thought.

I do find it funny how much of the blame of Orton’s failed run was placed on him being immature. Obviously he (still) sucks as a face but it was a terrible call that absolutely no one wanted or understood how to react to. Aitch needs to take that L

So not only did they skip over Rock vs Hogan at X8 in Episode 1, but they also skipped over Taker vs Flair at X8 (which Flair stated in his book helped him in addition to HHH and Vince helping him get his mojo back after being depressed from his 90s WCW run) in this episode when talking about Flair getting his steps back in the beginning of the episode? :russ:

HHH is getting all the credit in damn near ever episode. I wanna see how they spin HHH into Brock's episode knowing how he did his damndest to keep 2002/3 Brock away from him :russ:

That said, Evolution episode is decent so far (watching now). "You wanna make friends or you wanna make money?" :wow:

Nah you had it right, people hated HHH's guts but they liked Batista and Orton's development, and Flair simply cause he's Flair. They were looked at as cool, but there were enough popular faces at the time where they weren't getting a bunch of cheers like DX or the NWO did sometimes.

Them turning Orton face was the WORST:mjlol:one of wrestling’s WOAT face runs.

Yeah, and I question HHH's motivations with Flair. It was just a couple of years prior he was trashing Flair as being old and embarrassing. HHH at that time especially was only doing things for others that were for his benefit, not theirs, and I think he paired up with Flair to lend HIMSELF credibility and try to swagger jack Flair instead of get Ric back to being Ric.

The same goes for Randy and Batista: He hand picked them, so their success is always tied to him.

This has always been the case. He’s never been the most over/appealing person associated with any group or pairing, and this is dating back to Chyna in 97.

It seems to me he just wanted to be Ric and Harley so much and wanted his own Four Horsemen that if he had Ric by his side, people would have to take him seriously and it wouldn't be a rip off because Ric was co-signing.
