WWE NWO debut promo was high-key trash and lazy.

Jericho going over them wasn’t the problem, his booking of being second fiddle was the problem. Why would you pair him up with Stephanie McMahon? It made him look stupid as hell. Late 2002 after the draft was in effect was good, but overall it most definitely was an underwhelming year, especially with the amount of people the had on the roster.
Using that fukking dog to build a mania main event:scust:

I feel like you could make a spin off thread on this, but I think even if Vince opened the checkbook and signed all of the megastars in WCW in 2001, they’d still drop the ball hard with it and fukk it up :yeshrug: I mean, they fumbled the inVasion and the nWo basically back to back

I’ve mentioned it a lot, but the Billy Gunn/Big Show/Albert vs Kanyon/Staziak/Hugh Morris match at Invasion was basically a microcosm for the entire thing. The WWF team lost, but they instantly got their heat back attacking them after the match. They didn’t even let the middle and lower card WCW guys look like a threat :laff::laff:Damn near the entire PPV and storyline in general was to beat into people’s brains that “WWF >>>>> WCW/ECW”

I didn’t understand how that in storyline they were brought in as hired guns by Vince to destroy WWE, but when they actually made it to TV they weren’t associated with Vince at all :dwillhuh: and were showing up on Raw when Vince was mainly involved on Smackdown at the time. :mindblown:

and they had not one money promo the entire stint.

Yeah this was probably the most confusing part of it. I think there was one time Vince/NWO interacted on TV and it was Vince coming out and booking a match on SD. They were brought in by Vince as a bluff to get Flair to give up his ownership of 50% of the company. Flair said nah, but then had his power stripped for a month before WM anyway for getting involved in the Taker match. And then the NWO stayed around and never had shyt to do with Vince anyway. And then Flair got his power back, the draft happened, FLAIR drafted the NWO and within a month or so of that he basically made himself a member and was picking new people to put into the group before Vince randomly won the company back in a match that was made the night of the show.

:dwillhuh:

A good spinoff thread would be how you guys would book the nwo takeover angle

I'd go with a variation of what some one mentioned in here.. have Hall and Nash show up with Hogan...say some shyt like "we're here to officially get the band back together" ...have Hogan reach to 2sweet Nash, then SWERVE kick boom jack knife power bomb....Have Nash say "no old man...you were just a means to an end when we were down south... we're getting the REAL band back together"....Hall and Nash throw up the kliq sign and out walks Trips, HBK and Kid...they mockingly recreate the curtain call moment....then just have the nwo be a fully formed Kliq faction that I don't think we've ever got on TV...Put Trips in the Hogan main event champ role, HBK as the Eric Biscoff mouth piece role...and have the Outsiders and kid do them

Imagine if they could have instead transitioned into a proper Kilq stable with Trips, Nash, Hall, HBK, and X-Pac

This is the only way it woulda worked long-term. All that other shyt they were doin' is why it flopped.

Fans didn't wanna boo Hogan in '02.

Big Show was damn near pointless in '02.

Booker was only added cause he was a former WCW guy, and the crowd started liking him by then.

And of course, Hall got fired, I guess not much coulda been done to prevent that.

Just put the whole Kliq together for a while, and let 'em roll until they fall apart storyline-wise.

Can’t prevent Nash from pulling a quad either
