They botched the Owen tourney, what makes you think this one woulda achieved better results? :mjlol:

And maybe this plays a factor or not, but the CWC was held in one specific place and recorded throughout a few days. :ld:

I think OP is talking specifically about how they introduced the talent with video packages and what not. I don’t think he means that they should have had a tournament.

Shoulda been specific with it. Dude didn’t say anything. :ld:

hype videos woulda been dope, but they would need to be aired over the course of weeks to showcase the incoming talent. And who knows, TK probably wasn’t aware of who was gonna be used until a week in advance. :manny:

Main gripe about Forbidden Door is the presentation of the NJPW wrestlers feel cheap. It feels too much like a country club like they're expecting us to know all of these wrestlers without at least having simple stuff like promos and video packages to sell us on them. Okada being just another guy is a huge mistake and they should've been building him up like the goat he is. I have some friends that mainly watch WWE and they had no clue who anybody was except Okada because they knew he was a big deal
Didn’t JR say that he was the best wrestler in the world when he debuted on Dynamite?

The video packages were nice, but they really only had the time for it because the CWC was its own separate show. If they tried stuffing all that into the normal runtime of a NXT episode, it wouldn't work.

This was just a bad time for this PPV to happen. Most of NJPW's talent was in Japan for the Dominion tour and to get ready for the G1, and AEW also had to try to build toward the Blood and Guts episode, along with start laying down groundwork for All Out. This honestly would've been better timed to be the theme for Revolution next year, or something.

It’s not about being confused. I just went off the thread title and figured a tournament.

And honestly, i dont think using the CWC as an example was right. Maybe just pointing out how video packages shoulda been used to showcase the talent woulda been better.

fukk is your problem? Just saying how it is. :childplease:

You're not talking about the tournament, yet saying NJPW wrestlers shoulda been presented like it but you're referring specifically to just video packages. When you say the CWC you're factoring in everything about it. Keep it simple, stupid. :dahell:

Nah one of the worst things about AEW is when they debut someone who is an indy name or even a star in Japan but expect the home audience to understand who and what the fucc is going on.

Tony can certainly have a focus on the hardcore crowd but if AEW wants to cont. to grow they HAVE to also cater to some casuals. That's just the way it goes

To keep it 100 AEW is lacking when introducing anyone who hasn't done a bid in WWE/NXT.
It can't be that hard to have your video team whip up a quick intro package for new guys from the indies or an international company when they are making an appearance in AEW.
Just look at the Hangman vs Silas Young match on Dynamite this past Wednesday...all tony Khan had to do was take some footage from ROH that he owns now of Hangman and Young's matches in ROH to give a little flavor of what type of wrestler Young is and why him facing the former AEW world champ is a big deal.
Not doing it for the NJPW guys is just an egregious mistake on TK's part considering you are trying to sell PPV buys.

JR saying it on commentary doesn't do it much justice especially since he randomly shows up in jeans and t-shirt. I know Okada may be one of the best of all time, but the Western audience isn't that familiar with him. So, I don't think the lapse fans AEW got will recognize or care much for him, but the hardcore fans and IWC will recognize him
