New Japan fukked up by taking so long to try to elevate their current crop of young talent, especially the Japanese ones.
Just about all the big names to help with that are either held together by duct tape and super glue or left the company in or near their primes (and in the case of Okada, put over none of them).
And the only significant gaijin you can likely count on to not bolt for AEW or WWE is Zack Sabre Jr who they never wanted to make a top guy until it was pretty much at the point where a better option didn’t exist. And even then I wouldn’t completely rule out him ending up in AEW at some point.
With Takeshyta and Kevin Knight having dual contracts with AEW and NJPW, I could see that being something that starts happening with more frequency. Though with the # of shows NJPW runs I don’t know how practical it is for them to do a lot of that, can’t realistically expect talent to be going back and forth between USA and Japan on a regular basis. Also not realistic to ask them to go to Japan for an extended stay either, though in sure some would.
