A.J. Ferrari, an Oklahoma State University NCAA wrestling champion, is no longer with the team, the school confirmed after police announced he had been accused of sexual assault.

A Wednesday statement from the Stillwater Police Department said officers responded on July 2 to a report of sexual assault.

"The suspect in the case has been identified as Albert Jame Ferrari Jr.," the statement said.

The case is under investigation, police said.

A spokesperson for Oklahoma State University told NBC News that Ferrari "is no longer with the program."

"The university has been made aware of an alleged off-campus sexual assault involving a student. We support the investigation underway by the Stillwater Police Department, and we will cooperate with them," said a statement from the university. "These are serious allegations, and we have processes in place to address any violations of OSU policy."

Ferrari was the 2021 NCAA champion in the 197-pound weight class. He has signed a name, image and likeness deal with World Wrestling Entertainment as part of its “Next In Line” program.

So what is the WWE supposed to be getting out of this then?
most of the people in the first class haven't even finished college yet, they are either still in school and/or freshly graduated(as of may) and pursuing a pro career in their athletic field.. if they don't make it to the pros then they have the option to pursue a career in WWE which is where the NIL benefit comes into play, so basically not enough time has passed for us to see an NIL athlete cross over and make their way to WWE, and even if they did they'd be in training right now and not on TV

But I know for a fact there's a few who intend on becoming wrestlers like Aleeya Hutchins. Mikala Hall also intends to give it a shot since she isn't making the WNBA :troll:

Former Oklahoma State wrestler A.J. Ferrari was charged with one felony count of sexual battery, and a warrant was issued for his arrest by a judge in Payne County District Court on Wednesday, according to documents obtained by The Oklahoman.

Bond was set at $25,000 for Ferrari, 21, as initially reported by the Stillwater News-Press.

An arrest warrant affidavit was filed by a detective in the Stillwater Police Department’s criminal investigations division on Tuesday, the documents showed.

The alleged incident occurred on July 2 in the home of a Stillwater female, who accused Ferrari of performing unwanted sexual acts while holding her down in her bed, per the affidavit.

On July 5, the woman filed for an emergency protective order against Ferrari. The hearing on that order is scheduled for Sept. 15.

“The Ferrari Family is disappointed by the State’s decision to file this charge,” Ferrari’s attorney, Derek Chance, told The Oklahoman in an emailed statement. “We remain confident that through the legal process, A.J. Jr. will be exonerated, as he is innocent and the facts will no doubt prove it.”

The university announced on July 13 that Ferrari, who would have been a junior on the OSU wrestling team, was no longer with the program.

An NCAA champion at 197 pounds as a freshman in 2021, Ferrari was the top-ranked wrestler in the class last season before suffering serious injuries in a January car accident that prevented him from competing the rest of the year.
