My thoughts:
-controls aren't the best still, but better than anything 2K has given us since getting the rights
-the models, entrances, arenas, attires, etc all look great. this has and always will be their greatest strength
-mygm is cool for one play through, but ends after 15 weeks, a good start for a mode, but i wont be playing it again
-showcase/myrise is the standard stuff like always, if you into that you you won't be disappointed.
-my faction works like supercard and many mobile games, you are facing someone else's team, but the AI controls them. there's no point in grinding for cards since you can't flex or fight someone live with them. this will take off like other sports Ultimate team modes, when you can fight online, and if they monopolize the card system correctly with pack buying, and able to sell cards on auction houses to other users.
-no advanced entrance creation, or ability to add pyro to any type of character. there are a select few that have pre-made pyro, but it isn't even the same typa pyro they use on tv. (charlotte has wrong pyro, but sasha doesn't have any at all, while rhea ripley has pyro
)
-I'll be spending most my time in Universe mode like always after a week, but not complaining.
So taking into account, that this is their first iteration of "rebirth", and that next year will most likely have all of these features that will make a majority of the modes good, but also taking into account they had 2 years to work this, 3 if you count 2K20, and should be able to have all that though of, and implemented, given their budget and that the engine and features of the game as still basically the same but they couldn't code simple stuff back in...
If 2K19 was a 7, and 2K20 was a 4, I give this a 6 with the caveat that this game will undoubtedly be even better next year, game gets a pass from me, cop at will.
