It's not a comparison. When Wade was a 27 year old unrestricted FA the cap was no where near what it is now, the game has changed and the money has changed. Now Whiteside was the 27 year old unrestricted FA and he got exactly what he deserved

Win what? How does losing Wade make them better? Who says they get any quality players next offseason now that they've run off the greatest player in Franchise history over a few million dollars?

And didn't we just see a super team form? In what world are the Heat winning anytime soon either way? The ONLY way I buy this move is if it's a full tank job this year.
