Ya'll argue about WU but have no idea behind what stopped their momentum...The Wu Tang Clan were/are an extension of poor black people from all over the United States...They represented their hometown but also dropped knowledge and wisdom which was relatable to all walks of life...A movement that started in RZA's crib went on to be something the music world was not anticipating...and when the powers that be in charge saw how powerful the words of this group was for the black people of these unified states...they felt threatened. Don't belive me, see the Wu having FBI files on them...
FBI releases file on Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty b*stard | Music | guardian.co.uk (place dirtys' music name at the end)
I am all for hip hop, whether it be Bone, NWA, Outkast, Wu or whoever you choose to consider the greatest. Every person that made an impact started from the bottom and were considered to die in prison or the streets...I salute these men for getting out of their conditions and having positive influences on our daily lives.
I personally will choose Wu over other groups, but that does not mean other groups were not as impactful or didn't change hip hop for the better...
My first comments stem from people constantly saying Wu/Bone fell off...of course the momentum slows down for any artist...but know it's not just the music business that slows down momentum of positive artist. It's bigger than hip hop and some will omit my statements because you are ignorant to the ways of the many that are in charge.
Peace
