i think Wu Tang is like Biggie, personally. They had a nice 2-3 year run and then died, no offense to the wu stans of course, i once was one myself, then reality bit. ghost, rae and rza are the only ones who continued to have a few nice moments here and there over the years, ghost shining the brightest. rza gettin that hollywood paper now, salute him. in those 2-3 years they was doing they thing tho there were a lot of classics dropped. i still got outkast ahead of wu tho.

I don't know what's funnier though. Saying Heiro is more omnipresent than Wu, or counting every single solo album even loosely affiliated with NWA as NWA "albums". NWA has 2 albums. If you want to count Eazy's shyt while NWA was still together, ok. Cube, Dre, etc. ain't NWA albums. I mean, god damn son. Talk about moving the goal post.

NWA made a bigger impact than Wu..they single handedly put the west coast on the map..news/media controversies..brought gangster rap into the media and rap game really..even tho the pioneer is skooly D, NWA brought it to a world wide arena..

Wu-Tang would exist with or without NWA. NWA popularized gangster rap, they didn't invent crime, and Wu was a product of 70s, 80s, and early 90s era NY, which was a war zone.
And gangster rap would exist on a global scale with or without NWA. Ice-T, Eiht/CMW, Quik, ATL, etc. was all selling records. Somebody from the west would've blown up. Ice-T was in the media just as much, and for all the same reasons.
And rap existed before NWA so

theres always the same respponses to why wu aint the goat from these stans, but here are facts
whether the solos SHOULD count towards wu's GROUP greatness or not, they do. they are still a group (NWA ISNT), they still dominated an era (outkast didnt), they still innovated hip hop (like any other LEGENDARY MC/'s).
they are still talked about, a staple of american culture, put an entire borough on their fukking back, have diverse respect from mostly any genre/group of people. They influence music outside of hip hop.
wu tang is once in a lifetime. 3-4 potential GOAT hip hop album ever reside in their camp. 9 mcs with 5 of them making mostly any top 30 depending on taste in music.
underground AND mainstream at the same time. wu is a conundrum. denying their greatness is like denying simple truths in life like the sky is blue, water is wet, and that judas rat to romans while jesus slept
actual real life criminals who were gangster rappers, while being concious spiritual truth seekers who taught the babies of the ills of the world. wu tang was for the children.. they created their own slang to measure their own greatness cause words cannot measure why wu tang trumps every rap group that ever existed. their weed carriers has better albums than some of the listed names in thsi thread. the deepest roster of nice mcs who still rep the name out of love not money. the ultimate in lyricism, from simple to incredibly dense; and beat making from one dude tutoring his own crew to create HIS sound that is duplicated by the greats today.
