Over all a good Doc. Glad they kept the money disputes in. Only thing I wanted to hear about that skipped was the studio flood...Rza had to remake all of Methods album and lost Decks whole shyt and I think he said hundreds of other beats.

Really loved hearing them all spit over the Method Man beat too.

Only saw Episode 1 but it was piff

I like how they really went in depth about their lives before the crew formed and setting the backdrop of racial divide in Staten along with the crack epidemic and the rise of the five percenters in New York

This is fantastic. Watched all four parts yesterday. As a wu fan it’s necessary but even if you’re not a wu fan and just love hip hop, it’s still necessary. Seeing their lives chronicled and them being so honest about everything is really dope. Guys talking about battling depression, money, egos, dissing that shaolin album to Rza’s face, all of it.

I was always pretty clear in my head about who was fukking over whom for the money but the doc showed it’s not that simple. It looks like divine had a plan but the problem is, he never told anyone the plan. And these guys were making too much money to not be in on the plan. So everyone involved had a lack of foresight, even divine.

That hot 97 story still hurts. The W is an album that should’ve and could’ve gotten that airplay and needed the support. But they shot themselves in the foot.

And on the filmmaking front, the blending of current footage with older footage was seamless and really cool. Most docs don’t work that way.

If there’s one thing I would’ve wanted, it’s more about them making those first solo albums. I get that wasn’t the actual aim here but they could’ve really had some gems there.

Watching these dudes just reminded me of my friends. We’ve all known each other for about 20 years now. We fight we bicker and all that shyt but like ghost said, we always say how much we love one another.

Wu is the greatest group of all time. And this shot past the tribe doc as my fav hip hop doc

Lol at the revelation masta killa is essentially marvin gayss nephew/cousin and both related to nat turner.

I dont blame divine and rza AT ALL. Rza put in YEARS worth of work for the wu that no one member could have duplicated. The dirty/vine call was hard to listen to cuz i understand both sides. Dirtys is he wanna be free but vines is “i got money cuz i invested. Wheres yours dirt”. Id be mad if some cac likendirtys manager was getting my percentage too (that moment where rza was like “u dont even know who i am niggga hmmph”...) when none of wus managers put them into position like vine did. Plus they cousins and look how it turned out. Dirts dead.

The members want the cake and eat it too. I dont blame rza or vine cuz if they name was SUGE or PUFF or 50.. we wouleny be here rn and wutang prolly wouldnt exist the way we know it.

Never knew it was ghostface who basically... ended wutang on the radio and in industry by the hot 97/rage shyt. Good to know. Ghost was BUGGIN in 97.the whole wu tang is dead shyt was facilitated by that.

As far as the fake album. Always knew this was rzas way of getting the shyt the fukk outta here and turn it into a W. Cilvaringz a major snake. Look how his accent changes depending on who he in front of.

Was looking forward to them kinda talking about how important the music was but its sorta implied at this point which is good. Wus legacy is set in stone.

Gza a quiet ass dude, did he say one word at all in that theater? :mjlol:

Even funnier cuz all his cousins do is talk

Divine a con artist too, they were smart to cut him loose no matter what Rza says

Divine was out hustling funding the whole operation. If it wasn’t for him, they don’t execute RZA’s vision.

Then he released all of them without compensation. That’s unheard of in the music biz. Look how long Diddy owned Lox publishing. Master P paid millions for Snoop.

Then they turned around and signed directly to white owned labels probably with the same terms.

Word. Idk what he talking abiut.

Power and divine were the money operation. They were literally risking they lives for wutang.

Mook and mike were the street team essentially putting in work on the road.

Rza was the one meeting with labels.

Rza divine and power are wutang. Mook was involved for a while too n

I'm not saying he wasn't monumental in the beginning but something was off when they got that success. Look how he was trying to do Cappa for instance, withholding 50 grand from him until Cappa stood his ground. That's bad business IMO. Plus the difference between him and Diddy is Diddy was a record label dude first. Divine tried to turn into Diddy even though he came from the same place as Wu.
