on a side note: i'm glad they released this album but what's the word on ODB verses? Are they unheard vocals or are they just recycled material?

yea, imma keep 40th St. its unique, Math has always had an unique ear, and that is certaintly an odd record. i like it tho

GZA and Uey killin everything im hearing, Rae, MK & Meth too. outside of a little too much Cap, the verse placement is good. far from 16/hook/16/hook which IF and 8D fell victim to too much

Mistaken Identity :damn: Cap spittin on this one tho

Crushed Egos is def co-produced by Younge, you can hear it in the first few seconds. dig it, could have used a quick 8 from someone else

Keep Watch slaps now, between the tweak to the beat and cutting out alot of Nathaniel its a strong cut now

Ghost's part on Miracle :damn: !!!! even talks about Ebola, 4th D a damn genius for that one

Preacher is interesting, still not too big on it. better than the snippet indicated its very musical like alot of the 2nd half

Pioneer is godly, glad RZA put himself on that he earned it. beats fukkin crazy 'this what yall wanted back, vintage Wu RZA track'

the underlying instruments on Ron O Neal make it interesting, like the sitar

Never Let Go, more of a slow burn. fits in between the other 2 finishers, strong verses. i like the selections to close the album

4 mics off 2 listens, im happy they did it. only gonna leave Preacher and Hold the Heater behind

I don't understand people talking about hooks don't matter for Wu. They have some of the most prolific hooks ("CREAM", "METHOD MAN", "Bring Da Ruckus", "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothin To fukk With", etc.) in history. People still quote those hooks in pop culture, totally independent of Wu-Tang, and people know exactly what they're talking about.

The hooks are the main thing holding this album back. I been a fan of Wu since their first appearance on YO! MTV Raps but I gotta call this what it is.

excluding Miracle, which i totally get the knock on, the hooks total about 1:30 of the remaining 61 mins. i hear you about their legendary ones, but when it plays such a small role on the newer material is it worth going crazy over?

Album is definitely better than the snippets led on. I dig it
I can hear some My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy influences on it. I prefer more standard Wu production, but I can fully understand RZA trying to take it to another place. Can't be mad at an artist willing to go beyond what people may expect, and it works more often than not here

40 St is kind of like a park jam vibe, i think thats why i like it. i can understand not feeling Math's vision on that beat, but they are all very sharp with the flows. not a tempo they typically record to

theres no bad quality verse on here, like say GZA on Starter or Deck on half of 8D. very crisp, the mixdown is very clear and sharp. sonically very strong

It fukks up the vibe on some of the songs. This isn't a Shady cypher where it's just a bunch of bars....it's Wu-Tang, arguably the most prolific rap group in history. The closest thing to the Rolling Stones or Beatles that hip-hop has.

I hold them to a higher standard. A hook shouldn't be wack....a single snare shouldn't be wack, that's the level of quality I hold these guys to, because I know what they're capable of.

I already copped the album, and a few songs/verses I like as much as anything else in their discography, so I'm :yeshrug: about the whole thing. But they should've talked RZA out of some of these hooks. Out of all the shyt these guys bytch out, them letting some of these hooks slide is :what:
