What was he talking about on Cobra Clutch?
None of that song made any sense
the moccasin money, one man behind the plate
hold it down honey, Shallah rock the half man Gumby
Rae had a Gumby cut
twisted, thermometer floods,
hot summer
sneakers spell drama
105.6 llama
don't know this reference
cosmetic classical, Sloman Shield, biography feel
watch me heal half of you; new attributes
Teletronics, DBX, 160X
compression with the ASR pressed
extract bass and watch the gooey dew drips, vanilla suckle with jasmine bits
.500 rap batting average
one taste the bowling ball, magic, Houdini escapes
from the fermenting hell halls of tragic
speaking to the "first of April's" deep in the rap game:
erase you, Excedrin head bredren catch facials
side orders, one telephone for take out
stomp your man half to death, rob him, then we break out
get off on the Clove Exit, knees dirty chick now
with low leverage, watch it how she lick the head of it
'cause it's law, order today, we pay dues
new tomorrow's, Rubik's Cube money in a tube
deck the halls, crushed celery diced at Cinderella's ball
ate your Peppermint Patties, slung my Peter Paul
wrangler,
straight laid the track when it sag
with one banger, interlude loop caused me to hang up
ticklish, crunchberry nikkas at the flicks pissed off
standin' in the rain and can't find they whips
suckaaaaaaaaaaaaas
motherfukker

But as a song, as one completely coherent song, what does it all mean?
Basically that promoters don't want them in clubs because they spaz out
They're like, 'Who is these righteous motherfukkers with they flags out?'
Stapleton Projects,
recognize you're lookin at Allah's best,
puttin on the hits is no contest
NOW, who the hypest in New York City?
WU-TANG! Radio stop shyttin on me!
That's just it a lot of times the songs don't have to be about anything just saying the flyest shyt in the slickest most coded possible way. Ghost was the best at that and a lot of the slang was regional or shyt that only people who he associated with were familiar with (certain commercials on TV at the time, certain blocks/streets that they hung out on, people they knew with certain habits or convos they were having) kind of like an inside joke. To most it don't mean shyt and sounds like jibberish but the way he just continues a convo and then ends it and jumps to some other shyt. Low key brilliantBut as a song, as one completely coherent song, what does it all mean?

I mean I just explained this but if it aint coherent to you thenYeah.
But it wasn't coherent. It was just words that rhymed together without it making sense or even being coherent.
Yeah.

You know how in a mosaic you have a bunch of small tiles laid out to make one overall picture?
Ghost's verses in this era were a bunch of small complete pictures laid out to create this grand collage.
A song like Cobra Clutch is this chunky, vibrant combination of all these images and references and senses that all come together in this cacophonous kaleidoscope of that moment over music.
Yea I think the way he rhymed was very abstract to the point it was off putting to a lot of people. Hell Rae still rhymes abstract as hell, not as deep as Ghost on this album, but Rae definitely circles back to SC era Ghost at times.Obviously different rhymes that he said I know what he's talking, like the references to different topics but what I'm talking about is it's not really a clear coherent sentence and coherent verses, it's a bunch of words that rhyme together that were written and rhymed in a very abstract way.
