Hip-Hop Gem: I-Cham Broke Mase’s Jaw Not Ghostface Killah – Stop The Breaks | Independent Music Grind

Hip-hop heads, did you know that, contrary to what most people think, it was actually Wu-affiliate I-Cham who broke Mase’s jaw, not Ghostface Killah.

As referenced by other hip-hop artists like Kanye West – “If you could feel how my face felt, you would know how Mase felt” – there was an incident back in the day when Mase had been talking shyt about the Wu-Tang Clan at one of his concerts.

Shortly after, he had a run in with Ghostface Killah and his entourage at a club where the two camps had a fight with Mase leaving the altercation with a broken jaw.

While it has long been believed that it was Ghostface who broke Mase’s jaw, it was actually his affiliate, I-Cham, who did the dirty deed as clarified by Ghostface on the Supreme Clientele track “Malcolm.”

Yo I-Cham punched Mase in his face over some bullshyt

I will never ever forget, way back my spanish homeboy was tatting me up bumping Cappadonna shyt the whole time. Then afterwards we was going to pick up some shyt I had no busy partaking in...but in his truck he was playing Ghost shyt the whole ride. I distinctly remember saying "Yo, I never know what these dudes be talking about" and he laughed and said "I don't either but it just sounds different than everything else so I like that shyt".

I think that's the perspective you have to have to appreciate Ghost, for real, the beats/music was FIRE and lyrically he sounded like absolutely nobody...and his mic presence and aura and all that shyt was second to none. Ghost in my Top 10 ever

I'll just repeat what I've said ever since this internet theory popped up: where's any other reference/mention/photo/etc... of "Wu-Tang affiliate" "I-Cham?"

To those who don't know, CDs had booklets, and Wu CD booklets had novels of shout-outs and ain't an "I-Cham" in none of them, including the album where he's supposedly name checked and the basis of a verse for.

Now maybe someone like Paper Enterprise who's worked w/ Ghost & his camp before could confirm if "I Cham" exists but, until something about guy pops up, I'll keep leaning toward the line is Ghost being descriptive of how he clocked Mase.

always thought this was duck tales

Nah, something definitely happened between Ghost & his crew & Mase. It's just no one knows the full details except for what's come out on cuts like Malcolm.

"Empire State/ where Ghostface retired Mase"
