Might even be a D climate right now. So of course in a sea of Opp and thot rap he sounds like a God. But Cole on his soap box can't even box with the Commons, Mos Defs, and Black Thoughts of the world. He gets a pass by some of the old guard because he's basically a backpack rapper's dream but nah man let's be reality here.
Sean definitely innovated some things early on with the swag on his first album and punchline delivery but I think he didn't update his style fast enough like KDot, Drake, and Wale were doing. Cole kind of updated himself with his production I'll give him that.
I really think Drake is actually underrated, especially knowing most people dont know his Comeback Season days
the guy really was about to be on some back packer shyt until he met Wayne. And he'd have been just fine being the new Joe Budden.
Wale can rap until he's 50, IMO
Kendrick...seems cold right now because he's kinda in the wind and that post GKMC flair seems to be waning. People want to see whats next and lowkey his weakest project didn't resonate that well with Mr. Morale.
Sean is weird. it's like he's uncomfortable being the Wiz with swag raps but since the new Detroit is on the map he cant compete with that street edge so he's just gotta rap just to rap. He might as well become a Jhene Aiko feature act and keep it moving. Thats way safer than trying to record some shyt thats gonna move the needle when you got Travis and all these younger guys making new age shyt. How is Sean supposed to eat in an Uzi era?
