man, this the Chicago I know! The Chicago of 20 years ago (1999) is NOT what it is today. 25 years ago...30 years ago

This city is NOT what it once was. I wont even speak on the HELL HOLES of South and West side hoods but I know UPTOWN used to CRACK with violence and drugs.

Glad you mentioned this. I've been meaning to revisit the P Stones book I copped some years back. Whole lot of fighting within it, some stabbings, and the occasional shooting with a zip gun. You can definitely see the transition from that level of gangbangin and violence to an entirely different level of savagery once the drugs and guns really got introduced. To go from beefing over money from government funded community programs to stem the ills associated with poverty, and then transition to beefing over dope was indescribable. In hindsight I question at times if it was all intended. Some of it at least was simply neglect from both the community and the government. The legal system including police, prosecutors, judges, prison system, etc., simply took advantage of a situation that was too far gone to clean up and resolve.
