Most obvious thing is the fact HHH, the heel went over denying Rock his babyface wins the title at Mania moment that most of the other GOATs have. Probably the first real SHHHovel moment.

Now I'm not totally mad at that booking because it was at least surprising and teaches the audience that the face going over at Mania isn't 100% guaranteed and also because they corrected it a month later at Backlash but the point is that Backlash match should've been the Mania main event. Having your Mania main event be a 4 way is lame too. It ruins the prestige. It should feel like a one on one prizefight and Rock v HHH made all the sense in the world.

On top of that they focused the whole fukking thing on the McMahons :gucci:

Rock was white hot getting Austin level pops and on SNL and they sell the main event around Linda's robotic ass. :what:

And they bring Foley back a few weeks after having an all time great retirement moment. Whole thing was a shyt show.

It's weird too because 2000 was probably their best ever year in terms of product, particularly ppvs. Almost all their ppvs that year were really good with some all time great ppvs like the Rumble, No Way Out, Backlash and Fully Loaded. But the Mania just fell flat, not just because of the main event but the whole card is strange. The only one on one match is some peak Attitude era trash; The Kat vs Terri. The rest are tag matches and multi person matches.

Some matches are straight up Smackdown level shyts; Godfather & D'Lo vs Bossman & Bull Buchanan (although we did get a Ice T performance out of that) and Head Cheese vs T&A :scust:

If they wanted to get everyone on the roster they should've just did a battle royale.

I don't hate the show. Obviously the Hardys/E&C/Dudleys first three way is an all timer and it's actually my favorite of their trilogy and it still holds up. Angle/Benoit/Jericho is good too but not the classic you'd hope for. :scust:

Oh and peak Trish :mjlit:

Super disappointing at the time and highly forgettable show overall for what was a phenomenal year for them and what should’ve been one of the GOAT Manias but ended up being mid at best. I remember the cable company actually had an all day countdown to the show, showcasing past Mania matches and moments, showing glimpses inside the arena, interviewing people, etc. They even had a glossy photo book released leading up to the show chronicling past Manias. It had all the build up and expectations were high and what a dud it ended up being. There’s some fun stuff in there (Triangle Ladder Match, Hardcore Battle Royal, etc.) but not as good as it should’ve been overall.

This was really the first major example of HHH's bullshyt. The main event should've been him and Rock one on one for the title with Rock going over clean but of course that didn't happen, and when he did drop it the next month at Backlash he didn't lose clean like he should have. He then won the title back a month later at Judgment Day only to 'drop' it back to the Rock at KOTR without being pinned (Vince took the pinfall). It was bullshyt and his antics only got worse as time went on.

The show was a huge disappointment, if it wasn't for the tag team triangle ladder match that show would be considered one of the worst WM's of all time, IMO. Not having Austin or Taker didn't help things either but it would be viewed much more favorably had they done the right thing in the main event.

I remember there was a rumour back then that Big Show had it in his contract that he’d main event WrestleMania and it’s just something I believe with no evidence :pachaha:

I mean once Austin got hurt, the obvious match was HHH vs. Rock one on one, but then Big Show gets inserted. And then Mick was so over that they said let’s put him in too :heh:

But that Jeff Hardy Swanton from that tall ass ladder was so iconic that it kinda wiped some of the underwhelming matches when people think of the whole show.

Triple H didn’t want to do the job and it would have looked really bad against Rocky. The 4 way was the only way he could go over him in 2000.

Apparently the original plan was to have Jericho in Foley's spot.

Yeah Jericho was on all the original promo material, and pre Peacock WWE Network was featured in the thumbnail for the show alongside Show, Rock, and HHH. Him continuously bombing early on in his WWF career/they thought he was too small to be in the match led him to getting dropped down to the midcard for the show

It was not awkward.

You was just watching the same racist energy.
Conveyed during the failed coup of our country.
Just playing out in a exhibition style csrni work.
Where wypipo continue to use.
udc educated base level thinking and appropriation of simple fact.
Then act as though nuffin happened at all.
To try to defy fact.

fukk the wwe, mcmahon and the eastern seaboard catamaran carny based ideaology.
that brought him to my broadcast network area.
